We arrived at the worst spa in Britain and this is not a joke! To be greeted by one very rude person, having checked in and about to arrive at our room only to discover how different it was from what was advertised on booking.com we had requested a double room however this room had two single beds! it wasn’t the dated room that got us at first sight it was the dust and smell like a old people’s home! So as you can imagine we wasn’t the happiest people. I went back down to reception to explain that room is not what I had requested and they told me there was no other rooms and said I would have to upgrade but I demanded a room change which is what I was given. Room 2 very large but it was like walking in a time machine very very dated and that same smell of an old people’s home! Spa Booked 2 double massages as it was my birthday and this was our last stop before heading home from Scotland and decided we wanted a relaxing end to my birthday week away but what a mistake this turned out to be! After booking two half hour massages which only turned out to be maximum of 20 minutes each! The massage was very average. We decided to go to the pool area where the sauna and steam room didn’t work! The pool was as cold as a fridge and don’t even get me started on the swamp sorry the jacuzzi which was the colour green with dirt all around the floor. So we decided not to stay and make our way back to the tardis. At this point I felt like getting in my car and heading home already having spent £150 so far! but to my mistake we decided to stay the story will continue… We decided to get food from the restaurant on site where we had to message our order through on what’s app (very strange) and had to wait for a reply didn’t receive the reply so rang the number on menu for them to say we will get back to you we are just putting the phone on charge! Great service! We revived our very average food with no cutlery no sauces and came in cardboard boxes. One come as a chicken burger where it wasn’t advertised that well as to what you would be expecting. The other meal was meant to be peri peri chicken it was as dry as Gandhi’s flip flop through a desert but to be fair the chips where decent. After this eventful and amazing stay so far my girlfriend wanted to wash her hair there was no hair dryer and I wanted to watch Netflix with my adapter but the TV was that dated I had more chance of connecting it through infrared. After going to reception and asking for a hair dryer and controller for the TV this took approximately 1 hour and a half’s, so we decided to switch off for the night and go to sleep. On departure we asked for our food bill where they tried charging us £71.00 at that point I walked out… The best part of this stay was leaving do not ever stay at the disgusting so called spa! The best thing that could happen to this hotel is to be hit by a bulldozer!

Had a lovely night sleep at this hotel, only facilities I used here was the bar, Ross and his other colleagues were so friendly and helpful, did not try the breakfast the mattress gave me a good night sleep. If I was staying longer I would have loved to use the spa for a bit of relaxation.

First a very bad “welcome” from the hotel. They didn’t offer me welcome drinks or free upgrade of the room even though I’m a gold member and told them that. No COVID measures taken to protect anyone there. Most of their employees were not wearing face masks and not a single hand sanitizer was working properly. Then, the worst breakfast in my life. Just 3 types of food and everyone putting their hands inside the same plastic bag of bread! I don’t recommend this hotel! Very dirty carpets too.

I would previously stay quite regularly for buisness at the George Washington, recently visited and the hotel room felt very run down, room quality was not what I’ve experienced before and it wasn’t very clean , reception hadn’t logged I’d paid for breakfast which caused confusion in the morning, it wasn’t a very good experience compared to 18 months ago pre Covid, previously I’d stayed on the upper floors this time it was ground floor. Came away very disappointed. Unlikely to stay again
