We had a fantastic 3-course lunch at Dovecliffe Hall for Mother's Day - the food was outstanding. The bread and butter pudding in cointreau sauce was the nicest I've ever tasted. The staff were really friendly and courteous and the building itself is wonderful, and set in nice well kept gardens. I would thoroughly recommend this gem of a place.

The title says it all really. The place has character ( needs a decorative refurb) in a pleasant setting but bathroom could have been a little cleaner. Breakfast was a triumph though, with a delightful haddock & poached egg for one & a good homemade porridge with dried fruits for the other. Particularly enjoyed watching a Heron " fishing "...

We were attending a small family dinner party (15) at Dovecliff Hall and had decided to stay there the night. Lovely comfortable room, beautiful view across the river and fields. The river flows very rapidly as the hotel is very close to a weir. Staff were first class and the food was simply perfect, both at dinner and breakfast. Can...

We spent one night at the hotel for my brother's 70th birthday celebration which he held there. All the staff were so welcoming and helpful. The meal we had for my brother's celebration was very, very good. None it it was pre-ordered, there were 15 of us and the food all came out together, hot and I didn't hear one...

We had our golden wedding celebration lunch on Sunday 12th February . Everything was first class and we could not have asked for more. The room, the food and in particular the staff were excellent. Highly recommended.

Fabulous food. Efficient friendly service. Good wine choice. But the dining room felt too spacious and lacked ambience. It was quite busy but not full. We were a bit chilly. I appreciate it's an old building with draughty areas but I think a better atmosphere could be created, especially for couples, using better decor and lighting and maybe screens to make smaller...

We stayed in Room 3 at the front of the Hotel which was meant to be a superior room. The curtain lining was ripped and clearly in need of replacing. The lining came at least 1 foot below the bottom of the curtain material. The bed was a small double and the mattress was on the soft side. The whole...

We booked the Dovecliff Hall as a classic 'country house hotel weekend break'. It met our expectations to a degree as it was comfortable, clean and the staff were very friendly. However, it seemed to be strangely lacking in character and did not make the most of the building or the location. The main public rooms are a bit anaemic...

I booked this room for 2 nights for my husband's birthday. The hotel looked stunning and was just as good as the pictures. The staff were very friendly and obliging. I had mentioned it was my husband's birthday prior to our visit and a bottle of prosecco was waiting in our room on our arrival. The room was very spacious...

Stopped here for an overnight as was attending a meetung at Burton Albions Pirelli Stadium ground which was a mere 9 mins away. A comfortable stay in spacious ground floor twin room. There is a feeling of an aged establishment perhaps past its best. I had to go out to go back in to get to my room but there...
