My partner booked here as it’s very close to Alton towers and living 2 hours away from Alton and not leaving the park until late, he also booked it as it was a pub and we thought it would be nice to go for some drinks after the park, but there was no atmosphere in the pub or customers unfortunately, pretty dead so we just stayed in the room. When we arrived there was no other Parked cars or any noise from the pub which made us a little concerned, we had also been trying to ring the pub hundreds of times to ask what the latest check in time was, we never got a call back. When we arrived we was greeted by a friendly little lady and she gave us the keys to our room, when we got to our room it was a decent size room and was clean but had a odd smell to it which was a little off putting, the wifi in there is super slow too which is expected considering the destination. We had some tea there which was nice. The bed was comfortable but it was hard to sleep as there was people talking loud and walking in and out of doors which kept freaking us out as it sounded as if someone was going to burst through our door haha. The building is like 400/500 years old apparently so that was also a little freaky and just felt a weird presence in there. the decor downstairs is very old fashioned and a load of weird old scary looking dolls behind the bar, the place kind of reminded us of something of a horror movie, think if it was modernised it would be a lot more fresher and nicer. Friendly staff and nice food, full English breakfasts could have been bigger, more like child portions. Okay for a over night stay and good because so close to Alton towers.

We stayed here for 2 nights for our family visit Alton Towers. It is 5 minutes drive to Alton Towers so was very convenient for this. It was such a wonderful stay. Margaret is fabulous and I would highly recommend this lovely place. The evening meals were excellent as was breakfast and we loved the fantastic pale ale on draft. The room was perfect for our family of 6. Clean bedding and plenty of towels. I would highly recommend.

This is literally a couple of minutes drive from Alton Towers. We stayed in family room chalet that was perfect for what we needed. Simple but clean facilities and if your going to Alton towers your probably only going to be in your room to sleep anyway. At the moment because of Covid the pub is only open to B&B residents and not to the general public. This suited us perfectly as we had the whole pub to ourselves with no worries about social distancing. The real charm of the place has to be Margret. We felt throughly looked after the whole weekend. Would definitely book again for the next time we visit Alton Towers.

I had the amazing pleasure of staying at this bnb. I was greeted by one of the loveliest ladies I have ever met, Margret. She took us to our room, showed us round, let us settle in and opened the bar for us. We had a few drinks in a lovely traditional pub, ate a gorgeous meal cooked by another friendly and accommodating human - Dave. Local ingredients, reasonably priced, and let me pick what I wanted on my plate. (I am normally a very annoying and picky eater!) I also normally am normally still hungry after a meal out, and I wasn’t. Good portion size! We stayed in a lovely clean room, which had everything we needed but I know if we didn’t; Margret would have got it for us. We had a gorgeous breakfast in the restaurant and the food couldn’t be more perfect. The waitress was lovely (can’t remember her name sorry!) I can’t sing this places praises enough. What Margret has achieved with her business has blown me away. I normally like to stay at different bnbs every time I visit somewhere so I can explore; but I can’t wait to return. Thank you so much for everything Margret :) x

Perfectly situated for Alton Towers in stunning surroundings, this little gem is a real find. Great food, fantastic friendly service and spotlessly clean. Superb breakfast in the morning as well. Cannot recommend enough! We will definitely be returning next year.
