We found the hotel to be very welcoming. The staff were all very attentive. The hotel is comfortable and just like an old country house. Perhaps a little refurbishment wouldn't go amiss, but it shouldn't lose its character. Although the food was excellent, the menu was a bit restricted An enjoyable short break.

I have not stayed at hotel but am a member of health club and recently have had lunch in cedar restaurant. Twice now I have dined there and have to say I cannot understand why the restaurant is not booked solid! A friend and I had a three course lunch for £20 per head and the food was amazing. The...

We found this place online, our room wasn't the best as we booked on the net. The hotel is nice and clean, and the gym is really good. The hotel is old and has some very interesting rooms and gardens to look around. It's within good reach of Wincanton and the local area. Especially good if you are a Terry...

We spent a short break at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It was extremely comfortable with beautiful surroundings and extremely clean and well kept. The staff were courteous and helpful and the food was of an exceptionally high standard served with professional care and ability. I cannot say enough good things about the standards and certainly will visit...

Yet another great lunch at Holbrook, this time for our wedding anniversary. Although relatively regular visitors, we would dine more often if either the menu choice was larger, or changed more often. The heating was on but a fire would have been appreciated as it was cold yesterday (3rd May) and we were told that it wasn't possible. Discreet but...

Some might not be able to overlook the ever so slight sprinkling of dust in this aged stately home... Others may focus on the worn furnishings or the odd fixture requiring a fixup. Those of you able to overlook shallow, immaterial features on the surface of what Holbrook has to offer will LOVE this place for all the things it...

Old, worn country house, depressing drab overall brown colour for furnishings. Waiter very good but table not laid up correctly had only knife fork , salt and wild flowers in a jam jar . The main course of roast beef which was medium rare as requested was spoilt by three roast potatoes obviously reheated as they were oozing in grease...

Dear 43dog, Obviously very shocked and disappointed to read your review and I will investigate to why this has happened. As you may note from our other reviews, the standard of our food is our main selling point. It is shame that you have taken to Trip Advisor to express your disappointment and told us at the time, were we...

We stayed for 1 night for my partners birthday and we're upgraded which was great. The afternoon tea was delicious so we had to have not only when we arrived but also before we left he following day after using the lovely spa. Breakfast was amazing, the staff were extremely attentive and would definitely recommend

The first thing to say is that the service at Holbrook is excellent - the staff did a great job of making my wife and I feel welcome. My overall impression is that the owners haven't been able to move with the times, and sadly the hotel looks and feels run down. The decor is very old fashioned (it reminded...

Dear John T, Thank you for your review and I pleased to hear you did enjoy your stay, the service and dining experience. We have just begun refurbishing the building and it will freshen the appearance throughout with the aim to keep the 'Country House' character. This is something we have been longing to do, but due to fire in...

We received a warm welcome on arrival... We were shown to our room which was spacious with a faded grandeur and olde world charm....high ceiling & huge windows overlooking the beautiful gardens....a four poster bed with canopy...comfy settee...tea & coffee...wardrobe with toweling robes & slippers... Large bathroom....fluffy towels. The spa was lovely...clean warm pool... Steam..sauna & jacuzzi...nice changing rooms....although you...
