We got a newly refurbished room which was reasonably quiet and super warm. Pretty much all you need. Comfy bed, nice shower, etc etc. Super value for money. Breakfast was good. Just don't eat in the restaurant...

Warm room, welcoming staff and ideally placed for walks through woodland and along the beach in November. The room was well decorated with a super shower, but single glazed window meant that we awoke to condensation obscuring our view

We found this pub just on the high street in Porlock. Very pleasant interior with comfy arm chairs and open fires. The bar staff were very pleasant and helpful. Well cooked pub food. It is a small hotel as well which would be a convenient place to stay.

Very much a pub with rooms - ours had a huge, new bathroom but the general decor was a bit shabby. Fair standard for price paid - clean and comfortable as opposed to modern & chic. Very central for Porlock.

We stopped for a drink on our first day visiting Porlock. The service was so good we returned for dinner and a quiz later that day. The young lady, that had clearly been on duty all day, was fantastic. Perfect service and such a lovely attitude. The quiz was great fun even though there was a misery at the table... More

Arrived in Porlock during one of our adventures on exmoor with no booking. Tried the castle as it looks welcoming and despite being fully booked the extremely helpful waiter found us a table, not the best table but hey beggars can't be choosers, menu has a good range of dishes and the bar is well stocked with a range of... This was our 3rd time in Porlock and 2nd time at the castle. As usual everything was fantastic and never too much trouble. We stayed in the annex for a week which was quiet and very comfortable. Room cleaned every day to a great standard and fantastic shower. Breakfast every morning cooked to order which was extremely yummy and very... More

We had a meal here last Saturday while staying at the nearby Porlock Caravan Park. The menu is proper pub food..not fancy London Gastro type food. Good size portions for the price. Very helpful and friendly staff. It was very busy with 1 or 2 tables free but service was quick. Booking is advised. Will be back same time next... More

We booked a last minute stay at The Castle for a much needed weekend trip away to Porlock and I have to say it was fantastic. We were given a double room at the top of the hotel that looked out to sea and across the village. The room had been recently updated and the style was simple and chic.... More

Had a lovely meal at the Castle, with good service and the price was reasonable. It's a quirky place, with sofas intermingled with tables, and a separate small dining area. There are shelves of books all around the place, of myriad types, which you can take from the shelves to read if you wish. There is a large bar with... More
