We came across the Walnut Tree almost by accident. It was raining and we were tired. While I think £154 for a double with breakfast was very expensive (it was a Saturday night), our stay was otherwise very good. There is a formal restaurant and a bistro bar, we ate in the bistro and the food was very good, as was breakfast. Our room was large and spacious and the staff were friendly and efficient. Everything was clean and comfortable. Free wireless interenet access was available and there was a comfortable guest lounge which we camped in for a while after we checked out of our room as it was still raining. There was ample free parking.

Just attended a work meeting in this hotel, a favourite venue when in Somerset. The food and facilities were very good. The hotel staff are very polite and friendly, We would not look any futher for good quality meeting facilites in this part of Somerset. We must oranise a residential training event so we can sample more of this hotel's hospitality.!

We have just run a tourism seminar in the Somerset Suite at this hotel and were really impressed with the care and attention we received from the Walnut Tree staff. The wireless connection was faultless, the refreshments were really enjoyed by the delegates and the room itself was perfect. We will certainly be booking this hotel again and would like to thank Steve Williams and his team for all the effort they went to.

We stayed during the Carnival weekend, having done the same thing in 2000. The Carnival was great - wish we could say the same for the hotel. I suspect that the owners tried to maximise their profit over a very busy time but, frankly, it was poor value for money. Our room, in an isolated part of the hotel was in need of a major overhaul - the furnishings were dark and the floor creaked with every footstep. On the plus side, staff were friendly, the room was clean, the public rooms were airy and the restaurant, although a little dated, was roomy. The food, though, was dreadful and not up to the standard of a hotel - I'm unsure whether this was 'penny pinching' by the owners or poor cooking by the kitchen staff - I suspect a bit of both. When we stayed before, we had a room in the

What a really pleasant hotel, all the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful (how refreshing is that?). The hotel had some 'interesting' changes in floor levels as a result of extensions being added over the years but it was clean and tidy and delivered a good three star experience
