Reasonably priced hotel. Good for families, dogs and walkers. Hosts and most of the staff very affable and certainly make an effort. Angela (mine host) was a star and wasn't phased when eight of us booked in and our reservation hadn't been carried forward from late last year. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts were excellent and I gather...

We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday evening meal at the Lion Hotel. The choice of traditional dishes was good - and our meals were attractively presented, cooked perfectly and delicious. My steak was served just as I had asked it to be. But more importantly, we (and our tired old dog) were made to feel very welcome and comfortable by all...

Called in for lunch about 12.15. Ordered a beer which was showing as on but wasn't and when it came to us really wasn't great. My coke was flat so another one had to be brought to the table - slightly better but no ice offered. Just had a chicken and cheese panini. How this can be burned on the...

Staying nearby last weekend, called in on Saturday night for some grub..... Waitress was quite lovely and very helpful, food arrived promptly and was very good. Entertained by overhearing locals chatting at the bar about the local treacle mine!! Would definitely call in again.

My wife and I popped into the Lion Hotel on Saturday 16th May. We hadn't booked anywhere and were looking for somewhere to eat. We were shown to a table next to a warm fire which was really nice, the young waitress was really helpful. The food however was disappointing, the garlic bread and olives were nice but the main...

Visited on the off chance. Busy but we were found a table in a crowded bar by excellent and caring staff. Had 2 pints of well served real ale (good choice available with our roast beef lunch. Beef pleasingly presented with a gentle tinge of pink as well cooked beef should be with a good range of veg. Yorkies definitely...

Called in early doors for a meal and drinks after a family funeral in at Dulverton church. We were made welcome at 6 pm by a lovely young lady. Wood burners were lit and TV on, nice and warm, clean inviting. First time I had been in that side of the building, last time I was in the tap bar...

Called in for a break in our Exmoor tour. Great welcome, prompt service. Good beer and we liked the choice of food. We both had different dishes and very much enjoyed them. This is pub is set in the wilds of no where but we found the welcome from staff and locals very friendly. If you expect London standards and...
