I wanted to drop in a quick note to suggest that anyone in this remote area of Devon please try and visit this lovely little historic pub. Lyn is the owner (pouring the beers) and her partner is the chef preparing homely daily delicacies. We felt extremely welcome and enjoyed our evening with the locals very much. If you want... More

From the moment you walk through the door you are treated like royalty. The beer is well kept, the food is delicious, hearty and very good value. It is wonderfully quiet ensuring a peaceful night sleep. Highly recommended

As Exmoor Rotary go here every few weeks for lunch and always get a good welcome and food, a couple of us went there to the steak night (Wed) last night. As always, a very warm welcome, excellent value and beautiful steaks and keep good beer. Used by fairly local people, who have a good choice of other places, on... More

I stopped over for one night with my dog as we were walking nearby for a couple of days. This pub is an excellent location for Wimball Lake and Haddon Hill. Lyn and Russ were very welcoming and made the stay most pleasurable. I would say that the George Inn is a typical pub/inn, not overpriced or offering false expectations... More

A Thursday evening in February was never going to be busy but we received a warm welcome at this lovely pub. We had freshly cooked tasty food and the puddings were superb. Proper home made sticky toffee pudding. Huge portion and very tasty

We stayed at The George Inn for a family weekend and we couldn't fault anything. Nothing was too much trouble for Lynn and Russ and they looked after us all so well. The food was amazing and the room were comfortable and spotlessly clean. Thank you!!

This pub/hotel is in a beautiful setting in the countryside and all the rooms have views over the hills. It is a typical pub style accommodation but better than a lot we have been to. The room is comfortable with a nice bed which has a pretty counterpane and the towels are arranged nicely. The bed was soft but comfortable.... More

What a fantastic place! This is a beautiful pub, a little off the beaten track, which has a great atmosphere and serves superb food. A group of 25 of us booked for Sunday lunch and we were unanimous in our view that it was the best Sunday lunch we have had. The meat -roast pork and beef-was fantastic (and lots... More

We have been to the George twice now and live locally. It is absolutely lovely food and the owners are bright, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. It was lovely to take our family for Sunday lunch. Definitely recommend and will certainly be coming again. Great portions and value.
