Just spent a weekend at this hotel and what a find it was! It is in a wonderful location - it was still warm enough (late October) to have our drinks sitting right at the edge of the lakeside - fabulous! The owners (Angela and Brian) couldn't do enough to accommodate and the room and food were great. What more...

My girlfriend and I stayed here for one night in August during our trip through Wales What an amazing place! Unfortunately due to getting lost in a National Trust park (my fault) we ended up arriving very late. Despite that the owners Brian and Angela were very friendly and welcoming and put some food together for us even though the...

We arrived after a long day to the friendliest of welcomes. The hotel is beautifully situated on the banks of the lake with the most fantastic views. We were personally shown to our great room by the lovely Angela who could not of been more helpful. We enjoyed one of the most incredible meals we had ever eaten and spent...

An excellent place to stay. Very friendly staff, who have time to spend with their guests, yet run an efficient business. The location is amazing, food first class and excellent value for money. Two days were not sufficient to see and do all we wanted.

Found this hotel on line when needing overnight accommodation for a nearby event. Angela, one of the owners greeted us and took us to our room which was lovely, super clean, small but very nice en-suite, toiletries, towels, tea/coffee making- Angela brought us some fresh milk for this, lovely touch. The bedrooms had been recently refurbished and were great, where...

Angela and Brian are fantastic hosts. Nothing was too much for them. They laid on a specially requested breakfast for us. Dinner was wholesome and fresh. Everything was served with a smile. They work hard to maintain a happy friendly clean hotel which has stunning views across the lakes and mountains. The rooms are well equipped, clean and with luxurious...

The room was clean and comfortable and all staff were friendly and helpful. That's the good bit out of the way. I can see why the hotel takes the full cost as the deposit upfront at point of booking. We paid £90 for a double room and were happy enough with the room itself. The dining room and bar area...

Quaint old B&B with a beautiful vantage point over the lake from their beer garden. Interior is rustic but comfortable enough and the couple who own it are very friendly. This included staying up late to greet us after our GPS led us astray and caused substantial delay in finding the place at night. There's an excellent ruin of a...

The location of this hotel is stunning as it overlooks the beautiful lake and the surrounding welsh hills. As we entered the hotel we were greeted by the very friendly owners Brian and Angela. The warm nature of their greeting was unfortunately not reflected in the interia of the hotel itself. The decor and general appearance of the hotel was...

We stayed here for one night and had a fantastic lamb shank meal in the evening. It had a lovely homely feel to it and all the staff were friendly and the owners were lovely. The room was spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable! The Welsh breakfast was fantastic (my husband was tempted to ask for another!)...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Pen-y-Bont Hotel in Talyllyn is a 16th Century Coaching Inn situated on the South West shore of Llyn Mwyngil (Talyllyn Lake) in Southern Snowdonia, Wales. Our location at the foot of Cadair Idris is magical and uniquely beautiful, the views you see here are shown by many yet only fully seen from our premises. We offer a warm welcome to all our visitors and share our knowledge of the local area, helping you to get the most out of your stay in this serene Celtic landscape. Many Welsh myths are centred here, and the landscape is untouched by development. Within the valley we have virtually no mobile phone signals, although there is free WiFi throughout the Hotel Building & we have Flat screen TVs in all the rooms. We have five rooms, a Bar and a Restaurant. Our Beer Garden is where you can see Talyllyn at it's best, and is a sensational place to eat on a warm Summer's day. At other times you can cosy up by one of our log fires in the Fireside Restaurant and Bar. Come and enjoy our Home-cooked meals with Real Chips and Real Ale, in one of the most stunning locations in Wales. ... more   less
