Cottage was easy to find with good directions given. Ample parking available on site as well as good place to lock our bikes securely. On arrival we found some lovely cakes waiting for us and some milk in the fridge, along with a welcome box with tea coffee biscuits etc. Beds were comfy, and there is a double and a small second bedroom with bunk beds. Our week was not blessed with the best of weather, but after our exploring we always came back to a cosy cottage. The heating system was excellent and super easy to use and amazingly quick to warm up. (Even in the bathroom which meant lovely toasty towels) Always tonnes of hot water as well. Kitchen was practical and had everything you needed, and the smart tv was fab and meant we could sign in to Netflix etc. Lovely walk on site to the river and the orchard is there for more relaxing when the weather allows! Good situation for visiting the key attractions in the area. Really enjoyed our week here. On a practical note. The cottage adjoins another rental property so would suit two families who want to travel together and also the owners are next door. Useful outdoor room for coat And boot drying.

A lovely place to catch up with family and chill out in front of the log burner. The grounds are great for walking the dogs and the kids loved feeding the ponies and burning energy on the swings and ropes. A lovely cosy cottage and wonderful welcome. Would love to visit again.

Just returned from a 3 day stay in this lovely place. Clean and well equipped. Despite the weather we had a great time the beds were comfortable and lounge are was very cosy with a wood fire (first logs provided free). We were welcomed with a lovely sponge cake and the winters offer of wine and sweeties. We even had 4 eggs from the hens and milk in our fridge. We did go out on one of the days but the last day we invited our daughter and grandchildren over to meet the ponies and see the chickens. There was also a big orchard to investigate with swings. The grandchildren absolutely loved the cottage. I expect it’s even better in summer when the weather is better. There is a lot to do in the area but to be honest we just enjoyed getting away from it all for a few days in a comfortable little cottage but was also good to have free WiFi as well. Will definitely come back. The hostess Tina was very friendly and helped us find our way when we got lost as it was dark and rainy.

Just back from our fourth time staying here - now stayed in both Chicken Coup Cottage and Farmhouse Cottage. We've always stayed for a short break out of season - twice in Nov, once in Jan and once in Oct - so the prices are always complete bargains yet our stays have always been the children's favourite of the year. They collect eggs, Tina lets them get the hens in a night, they swing from the rope swing on the hay bales, they feed the ponies, they splodge in the river . .my daughter is 12 now (seven when we first came) and is in full pre-teen mode, so it's lovely to see her just pull on some wellies and become un-self-conscious for a change. And my son, now nine, just has a ball. The cottages are lovely and we all unwind completely when we are there. We do go for day trips out while we are there - Alnwick Castle, Hadrian's Wall etc - but often the kids just want to stay at the cottage all day, pootling about along the river and in the fields. Would really recommend - we'll definitely be back.

When we arrived at Chicken Coop cottage we were met by Tina, who couldn’t do enough to make your stay great, & it was. The cottage is well equipped, cosy & everything you could need, including fresh eggs, milk in the fridge & the most delicious home made cake. After a day out walking with Stanley our dog, it felt like we coming back to home each day. Elishaw is well placed to see the beautiful Northumberland countryside, we really loved Kielder forest, & visited it several times. Perfect for a cocker spaniel who is full of energy. Fantastic cottage in a beautiful location.
