We only stayed for one night while visiting relatives, however we can highly recommend this guest house. Don't be deceived by first appearances. Once inside it's huge, with well appointed and immaculately clean bedrooms, a homely atmosphere and some very interesting artwork and personal decorations. Plus, the view down to the river is stunning - if you don't have a...

Lovely room overlooking the river and park. Stylish and quirky decor was a pleasant surprise. Owner is just lovely and the breakfast was almost worth the visit in itself! Perfectly situated for visiting a range of attractions. We will be back - thank you x

Viewed from Newgate Street this looks like a very ordinary terrace house. But inside it is a Victorian home, especially when seen from the riverside (hence the name). The owner Elaine is a lovely lady, making guests feel welcome as soon as stepping over the threshold and always available to help. Don't have the full English Breakfast or you won't...

My room was very cosy. Fresh towels were provided when needed and I had plenty of storage for my clothes and things. I loved the little tea/coffee service provided from your room and was able to access WIFI or watch tv in my room whenever I wanted. Elaine was so welcoming and helpful. It was a lovely place to stay...

Picked this accomodation from Booking.com-a good find for visiting Newcastle on the rugby league Magic weekend. The host Elaine very friendly with a warm welcome-stayed in room one with a lovely view over the river and park-spacious and airy room with en suite facilities. All diets catered for at breakfast which was substantial and of good quality. Excellent regular bus...

We were visiting Cragside Hall and Gardens with my son and daughter-in-law for my wife's birthday treat and stayed overnight in Morpeth at Riverside Guest house. Elaine was very welcoming and made us feel at home immediately. Parking is in the street outside and Elaine gave us permit. We were given room number one at the top of the stairs....

I was initially taken aback at a drab exterior but what a building lies behind !! Décor - Victorian meets hallucinogenic drugs meets quirky Room - excellent although it took a few hours to locate the wardrobe. Bath - not so much a bath as a small harbour and the liquid soaps were lovely. Half an hour of luxury. View...

We stayed one night whilst visiting family. The welcome was warm and helpful. The room wasn't en suit, but we knew that when we booked, the toilet and shower were just across the hall. The room had tea/coffee facilities and a basin for washing. The guest lounge was lovely. Breakfast had to be ordered the night before, which meant it...

We've been coming here regularly over the last 18 years. The rooms are warm, comfortable and spacious and reasonably priced. Breakfasts are varied and substantial. The location is excellent for getting into and out of town. This won't be my last visit.
