Post Office House Bed and Breakfast is a family run, privately owned AA Four Star Gold establishment. We are included in the top-ranked 15 B&B’s in Northumberland, as reported by the Northumberland Gazette according to TripAdvisor (June 2020). Belford is perfectly located to explore the beautiful Northumberland coastline and countryside including The Holy Island of Lindisfarne, Farne Islands and Cheviot Hills. Bamburgh, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh and Chillingham Castles are all within half an hours' drive. We are both members of Sawdays Special Places to Stay and prestigious accommodation provider, Wolsey Lodges. We have three individually designed en-suite bedrooms which are appointed to a high standard. Facilities include: our own private off-street parking, free WiFi, flat screen Smart televisions with access to Netflix and Amazon Prime (by own account log-in only), Nespresso coffee machines, generous hospitality tray, bathrobes, USB socket points. Our award-winning breakfasts include Craster kippers and vegetarian options, all breakfasts freshly cooked-to-order and by pre-ordering the night before. We are also accredited to Northumberland County Council's ‘Produced in Northumberland’ scheme using a wide range of local produce and suppliers. There is a lovely secluded garden where guests can relax after a days' walking or sightseeing with a glass of wine in the summer. Guests are also welcome to eat take-away food in the garden where we provide a picnic table (covered by a gazebo shelter if it is raining) and disposable plates and cutlery. The ground floor room is suitable for those with mobility difficulties but regret not wheelchair accessible due to the historic fabric of the building. We are sorry but no pets of any description allowed. We are primarily an Adult Only establishment, therefore children under 15 years are not accepted. No stag/hen/wedding/party bookings or divers. We are sorry but one-night stays are not accepted. Our guests' and our own safety is our highest priority and for this reason, we are operating on two guest rooms, where possible, whilst Covid restrictions are in place, one upstairs (twin OR double) and one ground floor. All three rooms or the two upstairs rooms (at the same time) will only be available to book for guests who are in a support/household bubble. Our breakfast room consequently has been altered to include two tables seating two guests, and breakfast times are staggered to reduce the amount of guests in the dining room at any one time. The larger table can accommodate three or four guests but only available for two households in a support bubble. Please telephone or email us for further details about 'bubble' accommodation or there is a specific room you would like as this will not show up online. A warm welcome awaits you at Post Office House either as a first-time or a returning/regular guest. We very much look forward to welcoming you soon.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Claire and Simon for our recent stay for a week at the end of Sept 2020 at their B&B, we felt totally at ease with all of the covid safe measures that they have put in place for their guests. The staggered breakfast times meant that we had the dining room to ourselves, again felt very safe. They make you feel very welcome, they are very friendly, helpful and make you feel totally at ease with everything and nothing is too much trouble. The food they served was to the same high standards as in previous visits, extremely tasty and well presented including the fresh herbs and edible flowers grown in their own garden. Claire’s homemade ginger cake, muesli, granola and jams are so tasty and gorgeous. They have provided a covered area in their garden where you can sit and enjoy take away food and a drink in the sunshine, any time of day and in very quiet surroundings too. They recommended a few pubs and restaurants that were open and we managed to book tables with no problems for evening meals and each of the venues were also covid safe and following covid guidance i.e. Milan Italian Restaurant in Wooler, The Apple Inn in Lucker and Sunnyhills Farm shop in Belford. I would definitely recommend staying at the B&B if you want some quiet time and lovely walks, especially on the beaches, only 10 minutes away in the car. I look forward to staying at the B&B again in the near future and seeing Claire and Simon again.

It is our pleasure, dcjajx and thank you for this lovely, comprehensive review. We are delighted you chose Post Office House for your only staycation break away this year. We take our guest safety and comfort very seriously and is reassuring that you felt safe with us, like many other guests before you since we reopened. The staggered breakfast times are one of the major changes we have had to put into place and so far it has worked very well. Our gorgeous nasturtiums have given us the most amazing crop this year, the same with the chives - a purple carpet across our rockery! The gazebo also has been successful, and many guests, including yourselves have appreciated being able to enjoy a take-away fish supper or relaxing with a few drinks. It was great to see you both again, very much looking forward to your next visit. With best wishes Claire and Simon

We’re frequent visitors at the B&B and receive 5* treatment every time! The rooms are beautiful and the breakfasts are fabulous!! The owners went out of their way to ensure everyone was safe due to covid. Couldn’t ask for anything more.

Had a 2 night stay as I was originally scheduled to complete the MacMillan Mighty Hike and had chosen to stay here but as the hike was cancelled, decided not to cancel and have a couple of nights away. I'm pleased I did as we had a warm welcome and were given a lot of information relating to the current (sept 2020) covid restrictions. Room was a very good size with comfy bed, big bathroom and everything else we might have required. Will definitely book here again.

Thank you for your feedback, David. Delighted you had a lovely stay with us, it was such a shame but sadly inevitable that the Macmillan Hike was cancelled but hopefully next year it will be rescheduled and you will finally be able to do it! When you find out more about dates, just give us a call, it would be a pleasure to see you both again. Best wishes Claire and Simon

We had a 7 night stay and were extremely well looked after in the current difficult times (Covid-19), by Claire and Simon. We were made welcome from the moment we pulled into the car park. The room we had was comfortable and had everything we desired. The food was excellent at breakfast but watch out for the size of portions for the Northumberland Breakfast. It is BIG. After day one we requested small portion breakfasts and that was quite adequate. The house is situated in easy reach of many sights and attractions inland and along the beautiful coastline. There are many books and maps available from Claire and Simon to help your choice. Booking well in advance is advisable as there are many returning guests. This is an amazing little gem.

It was a great pleasure to host you both and lovely guests to look after, we thoroughly enjoyed your company and thank you! We receive so many very complimentary comments about our breakfasts, we like provide (and spoil!) our guests with a breakfast that sets you up for the day, without compromising any quality. So many guests have said they have not needed to eat again until much later in the day! As you correctly pointed out, a smaller version of the Full Northumbrian can be chosen. You visited so many of our lovely places and we were most impressed with your highly organised itinery, Emma! In these Covid times, it is strongly advisable that castles, houses, boat trips, other attractions and evening meals are booked in advance as you rightly did, to avoid any disappointment. It is a shame you had to forego Beamish Museum on your way home, but next time! We very much look forward to seeing you both again, hopefully next year sometime. In the meantime, stay safe :) With very best wishes Claire and Simon

That is so reassuring to hear, Trevor and especially in these Covid times - putting together our Covid safe measures was rather daunting to say the least and no easy task at times! Our guests safety and ourselves is of paramount importance to us and are so pleased you both felt confident and safe. Delighted also that you stay with us matched your first, it was lovely to see you both again. Do hope to see you sometime next year. Best wishes Claire and Simon
