In centre of town just inside Bondgate and near Castle and gardens. An old building so lacks some modern facilities like elevators but our room was large and comfortable. The dining room is from the Atlantic liner the Olympic, a sister ship to the Titanic. Food was very good, dinners especially (included in our deal)

We stayed here as two couples for 2 days. The White Swan is one of those old hotels charging high prices for relatively poor quality. We ate in the brasserie and had a reasonable steak dinner but when it came to splitting the bill we found that they had overcharged us and they seemed incapable of correcting their errors. Not...

Stayed at the White swan in Alnwick July 2014. Not a great place, over priced and in need of a refurbishment. Even the corridors were shabby. The entrance hall and dinning area are very nice. the staff friendly and helpful it's a shame that they have to work in a place that has seen better days. Our room (204) could...

My wife and I went into Alnwick on Sunday 30th June and decided to have dinner at the White Swan. We went into the restuarant at about 7pm and asked at the bar if we could eat there even though we didn't have a reservation. The room was very quiet at the time, only about 5 tables in use, and...

Stayed for 2 nights at The White Swan, totally agree with other reviewers, the hotel is a time warp and in need of being brought into the 21st century. The Staff are brilliant as is the breakfast and Bistro food, we received an upgrade to a suite, which was at the front of the Hotel and were subjected to quite...

Dear Reviewer, Thank you for your review. i am delighted that you enjoyed your free upgrade and some aspects of your stay. In terms of management 'getting a grip'. I'm not sure modernising a building that in parts is 300 years old is quite the right thing for us to do but we have certainly been working on sensitively refurbishing...

Earlier in the week we spent 2 nights at the White Swan and we loved it! Why? The position in the middle of Alnwick. The brilliant staff - obliging, friendly, nothing to much trouble. Breakfast in the amazing Olympic dining room, a very special experience. Dinners in the Bistro. On a very busy Monday night the waiting staff were outstanding...

If you enjoyed the 60's you'll enjoy it here. Avoid room 7, and the 2 or 3 rooms close to it. They're very, very small. I could almost sense the embarrassment on the Receptionists face when the room key was first handed over! (They should/could consider converting that area to two suites.) If you're in the hotel car park, beware...

This Hotel was brilliant the staff couldn't do more for you. Beds were very comfortable and generally everywhere was clean the sheets and towels where brilliant white. Set in the heart of the historic market town of Alnwick and only a stone's throw from Alnwick Castle and Gardens, The White Swan is a charming 300 year old coaching inn that blends its unique heritage with superb accommodation. For generations one of the North of England's primary hotels, The White Swan is probably best known for its Olympic Dining Suite which features the magnificent panelling, mirrors and stained glass windows from the Titanic's sister ship. All 57 bedrooms are designed to an impeccable standard, and Hardy's Bistro, our contemporary, informal dining experience, is open all day for coffee, light lunches and an excellent bistro menu. The perfect stopover en route to Scotland, we're also your base for discovering the famous gardens at Alnwick Castle, and a tour of the very best of the North East with its unspoilt coastline, historic castles and Holy Island, Northumberland National Park and the exciting cities of Durham and Newcastle.
