Stayed for a long weekend, house hunting. Owner/manager very helpful about the area, and also accommodated our early arrival. Clean room, good shower and comfy bed.

Breakfast good with full English on offer.

We are coming back to Thrapston in a few weeks and will be looking to rebook.

Thank you.

The photos on the hotel website look amazing and the reviews are fabulous, don't be fooled. I arrived to an unmanned desk with no bell and just had to stand and wait until someone came by. There is no lift and I struggled up the stairs. The door was so heavy to open I really struggled. I was hoping for a meal having travelled over two hours but through restaurant was dark with no signs of life so I went to find a take away.
The shower surround was rusty, paint was falling off the walls and the bin was broken. The walls were dirty the curtains and carpet were dirty as well as the bedside table. The bulb was sticking out of the top of the lamp and the curtains trailed across the floor. When I first went in the room I thought the window was open, there was so much noise from the traffic. Also there was no signal on the television, so you couldn't watch tv. There was no map on the door, as is usual, telling you of escape routes in case of emergency.
Breakfast was a joke, there were a couple of serving bowls with cereal in, which looked like they had come from the end of the box of cereal . There was no orange juice, they don't do orange juice. The toaster was a joke it took forever and you had to put the bread through twice. I have never seen such a poor breakfast in all my life. Whatever you do give this hotel a miss, the only thing I was happy about was I only had one night there.

This is an old building that has clearly been neglected by a long line of owners. It is now, probably, beyond the pocket of the current owner to sort it. Even if he had pockets deep enough, I suspect he lacks the core skills to run a successful hotel. He is pleasant and helpful but the attention to detail that you need to run a successful hotel is just not there. Items missing from the breakfast buffet are so easy to fix. Bulbs missing from light fittings. Simple stuff.
Things like uneven floors don’t bother me - they can be part of the charm and it’s an old building. In many ways they would be better saying, ‘this is a work in progress hence the low prices - bear with us!’ Expectations would be more modest....
We left early.

I stayed here last Saturday night whilst attending a 60th birthday. Sadly there was no restaurant open which would have been nice so had to eat locally elsewhere which was awful but that’s another review !! Clearly this hotel is being re decorated at present and has some staff shortages . The receptionist wasn’t the most welcoming and was busy mid argument with a lad around 17 a staff member it seemed. However once eventually checked in my room was fine. A little dated yes but it’s an old hotel with a lot of character I might add. My breakfast was lovely can’t fault it although some yoghurt would have been a nice add but lovely jam and marmalade and good cooked breakfast. Never experienced much nose even though close to main road and slept very well. Few suggestions. Staff in uniform not trainers and jeans would be nice and also for staff not to be eating or rowing at reception. Allowances for this a little as both no older than 19 ish bit still not the best when checking inn. Some background music would be nice at breakfast it was a sit in silence experience but as the food was lovely I can’t really complain. Have already booked again for December for another family party locally.

I booked a room through Agogo [don't!!!]
I arrived and was told the £57.50 had not been received and it was only a holding charge.
I payed £60 for the room.
As soon as I found out the manager said he would repay me.
Nothing to dat in my account
The bathroom was infested with wasps. The breakfast was a toaster and an pile of cut bread.
Use TRAVELODGE you get what you pay for.

I took my daughter here for afternoon tea, what a disappointment. The staff, Asian and not known for afternoon tea, were very polite and nothing was too much trouble for them. The tea however was not good, dry sandwiches... More
