Stayed here as going to a wedding nearby and thank god we were out most of the evening! Our room had a very fusty aroma and was very cold despite heating being on. We ordered a sharing platter to snack on while getting ready and it was awful, all deep fried and oily and very

We stayed for two nights whilst visiting friends in the area. We were greeted with a friendly warm welcome and were told that we had an upgrade on arrival. This was a great start, we were both pleased and thought what a great get away this would be. Sadly this changed our

We stayed here for our xmas visit to relatives in the area. Last year we stayed at the nearby Mytton Fold, which is a friendly place but needs some investment in terms of standard of accommodation. This place has clearly invested in the public facing areas of the bar,

Dear Steve, Thank you for your review and I hope you enjoyed the new restaurant, bar and reception area. We do have an ongoing refurbishment programme for the bedrooms - many of the suites already have new carpets, soft furnishings and have been redecorated. I am sorry to hear that you found the bed uncomfortable and I will look into why the curtains were hanging off the rail - this should have been noticed by the housekeeping department and I apologize that this was not the case prior to you checking in. With regard to the bathroom tap - yes someone has taken the handle - the tap still functions exactly the same but we are sourcing replacement handles. We did have a blocked drain this was investigated and has been solved by an external drainage company and we apologize for the residual smell that lingered in the corridors however this should not have affected any of the bedrooms. I am sorry to hear that you will not be staying with us again, I sincerely hope that you do change your mind so that you can see we are fully committed to completing our upgrading of the hotel - however as I'm sure you fully understand that on occasions things do go wrong at a most inconvenient time.

Unsure if this was just our room or the whole hotel throughout the night all I could hear was a constant noise like a toilet filling up which by 3am became unbearable if I was staying here alone and not with my family I would have left and slept in my car. upper floor corridor

Dear Dave W, Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry to hear that you had a disturbed sleep. - may I ask you to please contact me directly as we wish to investigate this constant noise of the toilet filling up as this has not been mentioned before and it is not happening now - so if you could provide the room number that you were staying in this would be very helpful. We would of course moved you immediately should you have brought it to the attention of our night staff. We are constantly refurbishing the corridors and bedrooms and yes the corridors have been repainted recently and a new shower on the 2nd floor is being installed so this maybe is what you did smell - however odourless paint is always used and I'm glad to hear that this didn't effect your room. With regard to cleanliness of your room this does surprise me and once you had checked in you could have easily been moved or any problems with the room would have been rectified immediately. Hopefully you will contact me. Kind Regards Jean Haigh

I understand that dogs used to be allowed in the restaurant but this isn't the case now. They are however allowed in the bar area. Sorry for delay in replying.

Does the hotel cater for disabled guests?
As far as I'm aware they do.. There were lots of ramps giving access to various parts of the hotel and a lot of the rooms are on the ground floor.. There is a lift as well if required. The staff are all very friendly so I am sure a call to the hotel could confirm

Good ground floor access to all areas. I certainly know of one specifically designed room on ground floor overlooking car park that caters well for clients with access issues
