What a fantastic Sunday lunch to celebrate a special birthday. The food was first class with a first class service. Thank you Anna and Alan for making this such a special day. Best Sunday lunch we have had in years and all the family enjoyed themselves.
Sunday lunch is such a treat here as it's the nearest thing to a home cooked meal like your Mum makes. A cosy pub giving a lovely friendly welcome. Nothing is too much trouble for them, even making my five year old granddaughter happy, who is a very picky eater.
The pub B&B location was ideal for our short trip. Thumbs up to all the staff. The accommodation and food ticked all the right boxes. Would certainly stay at this venue again. The Sunday roast is probably the best you’ll find these days.
Having stayed here in 2014 and had a fantastic welcome, I booked with confidence for a stay in July. Unfortunately, in the week leading up to the stay, my wife become very ill and I had to consider cancelling. Having appealed for a no-fee cancelation, I respectfully accepted that I would have to pay the 50% fee as stated on the booking site. I received their confirmation of this but was later aghast to find that the hotel had debited my card 100% of the fee. When appealing to the establishment by phone, I was advised that the site was incorrect to have stated such terms and that a full fee was due. There was no offer to compromise or empathise that I had acted within the bookings site's T&C's for this property. Consequently, I elected to use the facility on my own for fear of wasting such a large amount of money that I had wrongly been charged. Subsequent months' of appealing for my money back, I was advised that having used the room, I did not qualify for a refund. Talk about being compromised! Or in my language, totally ripped off. I will therefore now begin to campaign against the property by providing an honest and accurate account of a place where the management put their pounds (or mine in this case) ahead of their punters. Beware. For the record, the pub is clean and tidy enough and the rooms, pleasant. Everything is starting to look a little tired now though (ie bathroom) and in need of some renewal. Breakfast was adequate but don't worry answering the "..what time would you like breakfast?" question as it makes no difference to them. You'll still sit and wait your turn with everyone else. There are no longer the frills and class of the previous owners/management and while this is no biggy for a one-night stay, this is no longer a destination establishment, more an 'if you've got nowhere else to stay' one.…
The food is so beautifully home cooked that I felt I’d gone round to my mum’s for supper, the beer is very well kept, but what makes this pub perfect is that you immediately feel part of the family! The regulars are really lovely and chatty, the landlord is great and the landlady really cares about her food and the comfort of her guests. Oh how I wish more pubs were like this! Thanks for making our week in Sproxton even more wonderful.
