We've just checked out of here and we had a good time. The relatively modest rate include breakfast and a decent 3 course evening meal. Breakfast could have been a little better as the buffet kept "running out" of bacon then eggs etc but the house menu evening meal was good. The bar was less successful with limited seating, no...

Been there quite a bit. Some of the rooms really are needing a major refurbishment and can struggle to heat up. Staff are nice and breakfast, whilst limited, is fine. No problems with parking or WiFi either. It just needs money spent on the rooms to bring it up to date.

Stayed here for a couple of nights visiting family in the area. This was originally built as the home of a wealthy Victorian merchant and has been added onto over time. It still maintains much of its historic character including a magnificent staircase and stained glass window depicting much of the trading history of Lancashire and Yorkshire along with spacious...

It you cannot handle lots of stairs read no further. This hotel is not for you! Stayed just the one night. Looks ok from the outsider. One might even say it looks impressive but looks can be deceiving! The best that can be said for the Oaks is that it is average. Nothing wrong with that but it is not...

What a disappointment... the hotel was quiet, hardly any cars in the car park or guests in the restaurant or lounge. Room cost £80-90 (no breakfast), though nice enough and staying in such a beautiful location surrounding the hotel - I was given a room with a view of a brick wall yes a brick wall about 8-10 feet higher...

Went for a spa day with my young daughter. Our greeting at the spa reception was friendly and helpful. Forgot to take her name-oooops but very friendly and informative. Spa facilities were good and it was great to be able to enjoy everything with my daughter (9 years old). Jacuzzi x 2, steam room, sauna and pool. Could perhaps do...

Came here for a spa day with afternoon tea as a birthday present from my daughter. Disappointed in leisure club. We had to beg for robes, luckily we had taken towels. We're made to feel almost uncomfortable. It was very obvious they only really wanted members there. Couldn't use the pool as aqua aerobics was going on with extremely loud...

Stayed here for a few nights mid week while on business in the area. Lovely hotel and really friendly staff. The pool / spa is also great after a heavy day of meetings. I didn't try the restaurant but the bar meals are good and reasonably priced. Will definitely stay here again

Myself and my husband were lucky enough to get married at this hotel. Firstly, I have to say a huge thank you to Jess the wedding planner, without her the day would not have been possible. She took a lot of the pressure of what would have been a stressful build up to our big day. Nothing was too much...
