From across the road this Olde pub with a hangmans noose hanging from the sign outside looks fantastic. Upon entering we were left waiting to be served while the lap top at the end of the bar was being used. After a few minutes the lady serving decided to serve us , we were a heartbeat from walking. I have...

Popped in here for a drink early evening before meeting friends for a meal. It looks like a lovely pub and felt quite friendly, however we stood at the bar and tried to get the attention of the only staff member on duty but failed, as did other customers! They were too busy rearranging the glasses, after 5 to 10...

I drink in the Chequers regularly and it is a fantastic pub .The managers have been there eleven years so must be doing something right ! Landlord and landlady are hard working and polite . The pub has something for everyone ; karaoke at weekends , quiz night , Sky and BT Sports on the television . They also host...

Landlady was rude and we were glared at the whole time by the landlady ( I assume) Had one drink and we left as felt so uncomfortable. No food served in evening and felt guilty just for asking after being snapped at.

Firstly, the staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. No fault here whatsoever. We were escorted, (after checking in and paying in advance) up the dirty staircases, with their threadbare and holed carpets, down-at-heel decor and appalling ambiance, to Room 4. Welcome to the jumble sale - a room of old mismatched furniture and furnishings and a feel of neglect....

I have been drinking in the Chequers for years and found the landlord and landlady fantastic hosts . Keep up the good work ! The karaoke is regular , every weekend . Also the quiz is well hosted and written mainly by the Landlady with guest presenters .

I have recently moved to tonbridge and whilst house hunting I stayed at the chequers on 2 occasions. This is not the savoy but at £30 a night it is some £50 cheaper than anywhere else in the area. The room was comfortable clean and had everything I needed. The staff were fantastic nothing was too much trouble. I would...

I had a very enjoyable stay in this public house. I found the staff very helpful and the land lady and landlord excellent fun. Great location, good access to the town. Other restaurants and shops are easy to find. Good view of the castle.

Had to stay here for 3 weeks, first week was in room 2, a single room, absolutely stinking, dust everywhere, furniture falling apart, window screwed shut, hairs in the bed and dirty cups. Second and third week was in room 3, a twin, a little better, but still stinking, no cleaning done in the whole time we where there. Couldn't...
