We had been given a gift voucher to stay here and I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews below. I should not have worried. After parking in the small car park through the arch, we went to reception. A waitress said the receptionist will be right with us. Within seconds Viv arrived with a very welcoming...

just an overnight stay in this busy pub. Amazing architecture, genuine old beams, creaky floors and warm fireplaces. There is not a lot of dinner choice in Cranbrook, so we ate here in the evening too. The staff are very friendly and the food was tasty and reasonably priced. The breakfast was made to order, so the eggs were far...

Visited this lovely hotel yesterday for lunch with my mother. Right from the start all the staff where extremely friendly and made us feel welcome. Absolutely beautiful old listed building with a huge fireplace in the restaurant. Food was very good, I varied from the menu slightly but it was no problem. Will certainly be back again.

We stayed at the George in room 2 which was enormous. The decor was beginning to get a little tired but I understand the hotel is due for a refurb after Christmas. The staff could not have been nicer and the whole visit was enjoyable. The restaurant was the biggest surprise because reading previous reviews we were not expecting to...

I've had the pleasure of spending an evening sat out side on a summers evening and popping in for a morning coffee and pastry. The cappucchino was really really good and the atmosphere is always what you would expect from a good hotel/pub with very welcoming staff. Well above average!

Cranbrook is a old market town, and as the only hotel in the town, it should do Cranbrook proud, at it once did, but the drinkers that hang around outside and in, bring it down, noisy, scruffy, sometimes drunk, lots of smoke outside by the door, and really not fitting a old historic hotel, from the outside and inside the...

This used to be a really nice place to meet friends and stay over. It has now turned into a place for sad people to get drunk and be noisy not only in the bar areas but also in the dining area. Service is slow and No one seems to be in charge. Our room was over the small bar...

We have been coming to The George over a number of years and have always loved it. Having not visited for two years we visited again yesterday and were shocked at what has happened to it. The lovely, warm ambience and service has been replaced by a down-market place that has the hallmarks of being in financial difficulty. We were...

I had a mixed experience at the George Hotel while in the area recently. I didn’t quite know what to expect when I pulled up in my car. While this is branded as a hotel, it is pretty much a pub. Walking in the main entrance was a bit weird because the pub -- it includes a bar, brasserie and...

When you pay £135 for a room you have some expectations of a certain standard being met, that is not the case here. The rooms are very hot could not open the windows as it lead onto the fire escape. I had two cold showers as there was not enough hot water to go round. The staff were friendly and...
