Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Decided to take impromptu trip to the Isle of Wight. Tom managed to fit us in for Sunday lunch despite it being Mother's Day. Impeccable service by Jake. Good food, we shared 2 starters & 2 mains (roasts & trimmings). Couldn't have been better

Hotel's Favourite
Went here today for Sunday lunch and had a very good experience. Food was excellent and the service we received from the staff was exemplary. Our waiter Tom was very friendly and attentive, he dealt with our requirements expertly. Tom the manager inquired about our experience and was very pleased to hear how happy we were with our lunch and service. The ambience in the rear restaurant was very good.

We booked a 3 night stay and ended up booking a 4th! This was a special occasion for us, my husband's birthday plus our wedding anniversary . The room was beautifully decorated and clean, all the staff were so lovely and went that extra mile to make us feel welcome. The breakfast was seriously good, the full English comprehensive and tasty. My personal favourite was the avocado, tomato with poached eggs, outstanding!! A special mention to Phillipa, you are an asset to the hotel, you made us feel at home. It's a 4 star thank you from us , we shall be recommending and look forward to booking again!😊

The Sunday lunch at the Seaview Hotel Restaurant has to be tried to be believed. We had a Sunday Lunch two course meal and it was out of this world and great value for money. The staff are young and very helpful and friendly. They knew their product and could describe it well when taking orders. The roast (I had beef) was one of the best roasts I had ever had. There were great choices from the menu and they also had a menu for people with food intolerances. Highly recommended

A surprise weekend away for my husband birthday, a very friendly welcome, a lovely dog friendly room with it's own court yard for the woofs. We ate in the bar which had a good friendly atmosphere, and the iceing on the cake was the amazing food . Its a very short walk from the hotel to the beach. The hotel has a lovely friendly atmosphere, you feel welcomed from the moment you walk in the door, it's the best dog friendly hotel we've stayed in, a big thank you. We definitely will stay again.

We have stayed here many times over the past 5 years or so & always had excellent service. This time we stayed in the studio& it wasn’t as comfortable as the other (dog friendly) rooms we’ve had before. There was no easy place to boil the kettle, we used the small table in the second bedroom. One side of the bed has no bedside table/cabinet. There is no way to turn the light off once you are in bed & there are no bedside lights. Minor inconveniences on their own but added together it made the stay less comfortable. I have coeliac disease & the hotel has always catered well for me, the fish & chips were one of the best on the IW. Unfortunately this time the food was not up to the usual high standard, the fish & chips were not only horrible ( burnt chips, batter like cardboard & dry fish) but I suspect there was some cross contamination with gluten as I had a bad reaction after the meal & felt unwell for most of the rest of my stay. I could not face finishing my breakfasts & although the other evening meals I had were fine I wasn’t 100% & so it wasn’t the pleasant stay I had anticipated. The staff, were as always, helpful & friendly. I give the staff 5 stars, the studio 3 & the fish & chips zero!

I just had dinner with a friend in the Bistro after booking seemlessly a few days before. We had a starter, main, and pudding - all were absolutely delicious, and so beautifully presented! Cannot believe it's taken us this long to visit, after family have had a few staycations there we thought we'd treat ourselves to dinner and very glad we did. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, regularly checking in whilst eating to see if we needed anything, and were very cheerful. The only problem is everything on the menu looks delicious so we're going to have to visit regularly to try everything else! Would definitely recommend, thank you for having us.

We spent a very pleasant week on the Isle of Wight and stayed at the Seaview hotel where we stayed before. The staff were incredibly professional and efficient especially Tom, Phillipa the breakfast waitress and the young lad Jake who might have been doing work experience. He was courteous and extremely attentive. With his attitude he has a great future ahead. The food was exquisite but out dining experience was spoilt one night because dogs are allowed in the hotel. Two couples had 3 dogs between them and they howled and barked throughout our dinner. However having complained, the wonderful receptionist made sure we had the side restaurant to ourselves on Sunday where we enjoyed a delicious roast. We would however mention the bedroom and bathroom were extremely cold and smelt of damp, we did leave the windows slightly open but that didn’t help. We did have an enjoyable stay and look forward to a return visit.

Nice quiet hotel of course located at Seaview. Very polite staff and nice spacious room. Bed was very comfortable and generally the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was delicious, the only gripe it could have been bigger! Would recommend for either business travellers, or those visiting with families.

I left a very poor review in August, we had bad food and very bad service. However, having returned a few times since, It is like going to a completley different establishment . The food is really good, the service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. It has take the hotel a while to get back to its old standard, but they have achieved it......I highly recommend the restaurant and bar.....and the new member of the bar team Kelvin is a delight, charming and helpful......well done.
