I have been with my family two nights in this beautiful hotel from outside. The problems begin when you go Inside. It is a very awful hotel with very bad restaurant, please don’t go for dinner even if you arrive late like us. The rooms very very old stile with horrible beds. Almost impossible to sleep. No wifi in the rooms. Employees not professional at all!! And our last hope was the breakfast!! But the quality of the products was very low and on Saturday’s you must pay for a coffee!! Unbelievable!! We have never been in a hotel like that!!
November is a special month for everyone here at The Collett School SEN as we host our annual charity dinner dance and online auction to raise much needed funds for our pupils. Saturday 24th was no different. Thanks to our brilliant hosts Shendish Manor, we put on a spectacular night our guests won’t forget for a quite some time.
The team here at Collett cannot thank Bryher Fuller and her dedicated team at Shendish Manor enough for the splendid hospitality they showed us and our guests. In particular, we cannot praise highly enough the attentive and efficient nature of all of the staff working throughout the evening and Bryher’s own support in helping us organise prior to the event.
I stayed here whilst attending a business meeting. Plenty off parking upon arrival. Check in quick and efficient. Room was off good size comfy bed plenty off pillows good Wi-Fi and quite . Bathroom good size plenty off towels but a it dated could do with a upgrade. Air conditioning heating all good and controlled from room .
Dinner in restaurant was good scallops to start which were good. Chicken stuffed was very good with potatoes and veg . Pudding was very good sticky toffee pudding .
I had a good night's sleep and breakfast was good. A very good choice of hot and cold food cereals toast juice. Check out quick and easy overall not a bad place to stay .
Have visited several occasions this year and is always a favourite but the coffee served is terrible. Undrinkable even. There are such great coffees available now, do something about it please. On visiting this week we all had to change to tea !!!!
We recently attended a family wedding at Shendish Manor and thought the hotel had both good and bad points.
On the positive side, the wedding we attended was lovely and ran smoothly. The venue is beautiful and our room was huge with a comfortable bed and good power shower in the bathroom. Breakfast was also really nice with lots of choice of cooked or continental options.
On the negative side, when we arrived we were told that our room was on the very top floor but the lift was out of order. Although we were offered help with our bags we had a toddler with us that had to be carried up and down countless stairs every time we needed to go to and leave the room. The tap in our bathroom constantly dripped and our toilet didn't flush properly. We ate in the restaurant the first night and they brought out the child's meal first so they didn't have to wait which we thought was really nice and not enough places do this sort of small but considerate gesture. However, when the main meals came out there was an issue with most of them such as undercooked chips or the battered fish being full of bones which at £16 for fish and chips really shouldn't happen. Although our booking was fine, a member of our party attending the wedding was told upon arrival that they had overbooked and as the hotel was full there was no room for them and they were sent to the Holiday Inn and provided taxis. This really is inexcusable and just should not happen.
Overall, the wedding seemed well organised and the food was very good on the day. It's certainly a beautiful venue for wedding photos on the lawn. With a few tweaks it could be really lovely but when you spend £150 a night you expect a smoother standard of service.
