Four of us tried afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. We were shown into a nice lounge and service was prompt. Tea consisted of delicious warm scones with jam and cream, a selection of cakes and savoury delights. If only the weather had been warmer we might have sat outside. A nice venue.

Outstanding food - amazing detail, variation and imagination. service was friendly and attentive. decor well out of date and a bit pub / Indian restraint in dining room but adds to character. Overall great time and that's what's important.

Just spent a very enjoyable evening having dinner with friends and then staying the night. All our rooms were beautiful and the beds is so comfy. Our dinner was just wonderful, and breakfast was also very good. Came using a Travelzoo offer which was very good value.

Can't quite put my finger on it but there's something not quite 'doing it' with this establishment. The decor is fair, the location is fair, the staff are very courteous but the experience was lacking. On the whole, food in the restaurant was very good and the shortbread in the room was delicious. Nevertheless, we had a distinct sense that...

Great place for lunch. Very pretty gardens, and staff were helpful and attentive. The food was good and also very good value at £17 for 2 courses or £22 for 3 courses, and that includes a glass of wine. The atmosphere was good and I would happily eat here again. We had the chicken and fish dishes, which we enjoyed,...

A great place for a wedding - a nice-sized main function room, lovely gardens, lovely other lounges for people to go to. The wedding breakfast was first class. The hotel rooms also were great!. The whole process from booking, organising the detail and the day itself was made easy by the staff who know what they're doing, and are happy...

My wife and I spent one night in the lovely country location. The accomodation was very comfortable with very large bedrooms. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly. A very quiet location with a large garden to stroll in.

Booked a three day two night stay through Travelzoo as we were attending Highclere Castle for a Charity reception.Pleased to note that some members of the cast of Downton Abbey stayed at this hotel during filming over the six years so they must have enjoyed the hotel, and their signed photo was in the lounge. Package included Cream tea on...

Visited Esseborne Manor last Wednesday for a significant birthday lunch for my wife with just over 2 dozen friends. We had planned the lunch with considerable help from the staff. It was a perfect menu with good choices. The whole meal was just excellent. We have had many comments both on the day and subsequently showing how much everyone enjoyed...

We stayed 9/6 with friends. We had a very good deal with Travel zoo. It is an old style hotel in beautiful grounds and gardens. The staff without exception were very good. Great service throughout. Our dinner was A*. Some menu choices sounded odd. They were delicious. Breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice and well served. The...
