We stayed here at the end of April for two nights as part of the Civil War weekend in Alton. The staff on reception were very welcoming upon our arrival and we had no problem checking in, the whole process was very simple. We had booked a family room as one of our children was due to travel with us, but they changed their mind at the last minute so my husband and myself had the family room to ourselves which was incredibly spacious (it would have been spacious even with a child in the room). The room itself was well furnished and very clean and the bed was so comfortable (especially after a day on the battlefield). It was obvious the room and especially the bathroom had been recently refurbished and some of the refurbishments were undertaken quickly due to the odd splash of paint here and there, and the grouting in the bathroom being a bit dodgy in places, but this didn't distract from the quality of the facilities. One thing I must add about the bathroom was the shower, which was amazing! We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was excellent and very good value for money. There was loads of choice on the menu and the portions were more than substantial, and the choice of drinks available from the bar also a plus. We also enjoyed breakfast both mornings and again, this was lovely. Again, there was quite a bit of choice and the service was excellent. The service on both evenings and at breakfast was also excellent, even though they were fully booked and very busy. We loved our stay and should we be in Alton again in the future, we will definitely be staying again.…
Alton is a lovely small town with several amenities, based close to the south downs. The Swan Hotel was excellent in terms of customer service, food/drink, rooms (clean, spacious) bed extremely comfy. Strongly recommended
We stayed in Room 17 for one night (Sat 30.4.22) - it is a double bedroom with an adjoining twin room. Both have their own storage and TVs, great for staying with children. NB: You share a bathroom between the rooms. We were visiting the Fully Charged Live EV Show at Farnborough Exhibition Centre and wanted to stay in one of the surrounding towns. Very impressed to receive a very warm welcome from the staff of the hotel! Parking is at the rear of the building, you just need to give the hotel reception your car registration. Your room key also opens the 24 hour main front door. Breakfast on the Sunday was served between 8-10am and offered a wide range of cooked and continental options. I enjoyed the Eggs Royale! My husband ordered the full English breakfast which was missing the sausage, the waiting staff kindly added this hot from the kitchen at our request. Despite needing a bit of a refresh of paint and light fittings (we had two broken lamps and a bathroom shaving mirror light not working) and finding 3 bits of lost property in the room from previous occupants, we were impressed by the room, hotel location, parking and the staff at The Swan. We would definitely return if visiting this area again in the future! Tip: EV drivers, there is a GeniePoint rapid charger within a 1 minute walking distance of The Swan’s car park at rear of the Alton Home Hardware store.…

Stayed at the Swan for a business/leisure trip. My room was clean, beautifully presented and clearly had the personal touch. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, the bathroom was spotless, overall, exceptional. The restaurant was hosted by an attentive team, my meal was just perfect, served by friendly and pleasant staff. Great location, easy parking, a warm welcome. Would definitely return, cannot wait to re book. Thank you to all. Daryl, Carl & the team made me very feel welcome 😊
Friendly staff who do their best, reasonably comfortable bedroom and good value for what we paid. Restaurant let down by running out of menu items. At lunch no salad, at breakfast no black pudding, bananas and pancakes! I suspect the chef could not be bothered to make some batter you don’t run out of pancakes. Just missed the mark for me.
I visited the swan on Friday for a family meal. Service was great, food was delicious. Staff was polite and very helpful also very knowledgeable. Be happy to return any time. They took the time to listen and have a chat as well
