This is perfection as a B&B, expertly run by owners Joan and Jack who cant do enough for their guests. No stone is left unturned in the way you will be looked after. Parking is easy and you will be warmly greeted and shown into St Marys Hall, which has had a very thoughtful conversion from a church to its present state. Fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality. We had the tower room, which was unique in itself, tucked away in a very quiet corner. Immaculately clean throughout with attention paid to lots of extras in the bathroom and a well provided hostess tray in the bedroom. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice. Due to Covid 19 restrictions we also were shown into our own entrance and tv room, with books/magazines and games to hand. Cant fault this B&B it is a little gem and we wish them all the luck for their future....do eat out at The Thai Boutique, within walking distance on the High St.

We spent three nights at St Mary's Hall last week and could not have chosen a better place to stay. We were given the Garden Suite which stands alone from the main building. Very roomy and comfortable with everything you could ask for and more. Joan had even left the fan running to cool the room down ready for our arrival. The whole place is kept spotlessly clean. The breakfasts were delicious. Very good quality local produce, lovingly prepared by Joan. The fresh fruit was a wonderful way to start the meal and followed by the full English it kept us going all day. We could not sing the praises of St Mary's Hall enough and that is all down to Joan and Jack who were exceptional hosts who by far exceeded our expectations and went the extra mile throughout our visit. Fonts of local knowledge from good eateries and places to visit - even down to where to park and things we could do on our day out to Portsmouth! With Covid regulations in place there are only two rooms being let out so we had our own entrance to the main building and a dining room to ourselves at breakfast time.. I understand that bookings are only being taken for 6 weeks in advance but all I would say is that if you are looking for a B&B in Alton, don't waste your time looking at anywhere else - you could not better the accommodation and service provided here. Many thanks Joan and Jack for making our stay exceptional. We had a wonderful time.

If you book this accommodation you will not be disappointed. We have just returned from 2 nights which was postponed from May due to lock down. Even though I think we would have enjoyed it regardless, Joan & Jack proved to be the perfect hosts and a real asset to this b&b. The location was good for the 2 days out that we pre-booked - the room we had in the tower was beautiful and absolutely spotless. Only word of warning is mind your head on the sloping ceilings! Breakfast was lovely, generous with plenty of choice and kept us going all day. Joan & Jack also recommended an excellent local restaurant Thai Boutique (a separate review will be given for that) and even booked a table for us, how's that for service? Many thanks Joan & Jack from the 'day early' Angie & John

My dad and step mum booked here for her bday. I wanted to organise something for them there. I wrote to Joan and she helped me sort out an amazing afternoon tea as a surprise. Nothing was too much trouble. They had an amazing time. It really made the day special my going the extra mile. Thank you so much Joan.

A lovely B&B, very characterful and comfortable. Joan and Jack, the owners, are helpfulness personified, knowing the local attractions inside out, and despite Storm Ciara keeping us inside for much of it, we had a lovely relaxing weekend. The breakfasts were excellently done, featuring local produce cooked healthily. The salmon was particularly notable. Thank you! We shall definitely be recommending your place.

What a fantastic place to stay. We were only there for one night but I could easily stayed longer. Our hosts couldn't have been more helpful or polite. Breakfast was a real treat and perfectly cooked. I have to mention the bed, as this is most important, because it was so very comfortable and made up with quality bedding.

I stayed in the Garden Suite, which was very generous in size and had everything you could possibly want. Well equipped for all seasons, with a fridge and bottled water for the hot weather and hot-water bottles and slippers for the cold. Immaculate inside and out. Beautifully decorated with a few nice Christmas touches for the festive season. Shower was powerful and lovely and hot. Breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked to order. As always Joan and Jack were fantastic hosts, very welcoming and helpful. If you are looking to visit Jane Austen's House Museum, or Chawton House this B&B is 5-10 minute drive. Perfect A*.

This is the second time we have stayed at this delightful B&B. As before, the owners Joan and Jack were extremely welcoming and couldn't do enough to make our stay comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble. The breakfasts are delicious and the bedroom is lovely with all the little extras that one would expect to find in a top class hotel. Thankyou both once again. Can't wait to return in the New Year! Best wishes, Carolyn and Steve.

We chose this for our wedding anniversary stay after reading all the reviews. Usually when there are so many in the excellent category, it is easy to take them with a pince of salt. In this case they are all correct. The welcome was warm and genuine and our host could not do enough for us. The room was excellent and the breakfast simply to die for. I know this is a much over worked expression, but fully justified in this case. I had bacon, sausage, and, poached eggs, the colour of which were incredible. My wife had the smoked salmon, which again was very tasty, and all cooked and presented to perfection. It was a pleasure to stay, and share, their lovely warm and welcoming home. Highly recommended.

We spent two nights at St Mary’s Hall and definitely agree with all of the five star reviews - we had a great time! Joan and Jack were excellent hosts, we had a very warm welcome and were made to feel at home. Joan was very helpful and accommodating, and gave us a great recommendation for the bus service into Winchester (very handy for the Christmas markets!). There was a lovely choice of food for breakfast, and again nothing was too much trouble. We were upgraded to the Garden Suite on arrival which was a nice surprise. The room itself was spotless and furnished to a very high standard, as was the rest of the house. We really recommend St Marys’s Hall - thank you both!
