... but the hotel can get really busy. I would suggest getting to breakfast super-early to avoid the queues. Lunch is good but service is slow .... not sure they are equipped for so many guests. The staff are very helpful and courteous. The car park is not just for hotel guests so you can struggle to get parking on match days. We got really lucky but many that arrived after us could not find parking. Free EV charger nearby. Rooms are clean and have all the basics.

Friendly staff and good location. We stayed for two nights and the bedroom was adequate. We found it comfortable enough and better than the last HIE we stayed at . The main issue we had was that the breakfast isn’t great. The hot buffet is very boring - just sausages (no good for veggies), baked beans and rubbery scrambled egg. The toasters are ridiculous and we had to put our bread through three times before it toasted properly. Not good when there are long queues. No fruit salad, just some frozen berry mix and very overripe bananas which were soft and inedible. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, I’d recommend going there for breakfast if staying again.

I’ve been here 4 times but won’t be back in a hurry ! Worst breakfast experience ever.. Massive queue to get a table then massive queue to get the food .. which included stone cold beans and slightly warm bacon (no eggs or sausages left) massive queue was partly because the bread toaster was in the same small cramped area, which people needed to put the bread in twice because us was so rubbish .. There were 2 normal toasters around the corner which no one seemed to be using… This would be very stressful at the best of times.. let alone during a pandemic. Woke at 8am on the Saturday and the Sunday! by a massive crane, about 20 feet from our bedroom window, being used for bungee jumpers .. so we had the joy of listening to the cranes engine reving up and hysterical screams for hours ! For some reason our sofa bed was made up, even though there was only myself snd my wife booked in .. so I attempted the fold the sofa bed back down so that we could get to the the window to close it .. on doing this we found an old guests pink hair brush on the floor ! As well as this there were loads of building materials stored at the bottom of the staircase .. with the fire door wedged open ! All in all not a great anniversary weekend!!

Recently stayed on business, good value for money, clean conformable and quiet rooms. Breakfast consisted of cereal selection, toast and preserves, sausages, bacon, beans and scrambled eggs, all of a good standard. Bar prices on the high side £5+ for a pint. Car parking is great, at front of hotel and £5 for 24 hrs. Staff are very friendly, especially Chris (if not a manager he should be). *Lot of work going on near the quays, diversions in place, so plan route in beforehand.

We had three days visiting our daughter, who lives nearby in one of the quay's tower blocks. There is plenty of parking. You just park up, no tickets, then just pay for the parking before you exit with your car. Check-in is simple and the lobby is tastefully decorated. We were delighted to receive a room upgrade, (the one and only we have ever had, ) to a room with a super king sized bed. It was massive and even we had room to spare. The rooms are well laid out, with limited hanger space, an ironing board and iron, hair dryer, moderate TV, desk and office style chair, tea and coffee making facilities, telephone and bedside reading lights. There are a number of plugs and a couple of USB ports. Most importantly, there is superb, high speed Internet, which is free, connects immediately, every time you enter the hotel. Their nearby competitors could learn a thing or two. The bathroom has a separated wc with the bathroom door doubling up as a toilet door. Next to that is the shower cubicle which is adequate. The shower does the job but could do with being a lot more powerful. The sink is set in a corner unit. It was also nice to see proper toilet rolls and very soft they were indeed. The room has reasonable air conditioning and though it only goes down to 20 degrees, it was more than cool enough, given the miserable weather. There is a comfortable seating area next to the bar, which is open 24 hours. You would need a second mortgage, if you were planning to drink for that long. Most of the staff are very pleasant and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast, though included, was the biggest let down. We didn't bother the first day, as we were tired and fancied a lie in. The next morning we had to wait around for orange juice. The toaster takes ages and only cooks one side. There was only cut up sausages and scrambled eggs but we had to wait for forks. The last morning, there was no orange juice again. Had to wait for that and there were no sausages, only scrambled eggs and baked beans. There were notices in both lifts saying that there would be no bacon because the oven was bust. Never heard of a frying pan or a plancha. Furthermore the sausages and pizzas were oven cooked. It turned out to be a supply problem. Try the supermarket. Any port in a storm. It is the one area that needs improving. More food should be available and frequently filled up before running out. It should also be remembered that not everyone is travelling on business. Guests travelling for leisure, may well like to be leisurely. The hotel is ideally situated, with easy access to the quays and media city. It is not far from football and cricket at Old Trafford and is a short walk from the tram stop with links to Manchester and beyond. Great stay. Just a few minor tweaks to gain the extra star.
