The Ibis budget Manchester Salford Quays, while appreciated for its prime location by numerous guests, garners mixed feedback in other areas. Cleanliness is generally praised, yet some visitors have issues with carpet maintenance and spatial constraints. Rooms are often described as basic and small, with comfort levels being a topic of varied opinions.
Service experiences range from friendly to unresponsive, causing inconsistency in guest satisfaction. Despite its artistic atmosphere, many guests feel the additional costs for pets, parking, and on-request necessities, such as kettles, detract from the overall value, branding it as overpriced.

Classic Ibis Budget hotel, with an excellent location to the Old Trafford stadium. There is a Metrolink stop nearby. Option to purchase breakfast, payment for all services provided can only be paid by credit card. Upon request, they accommodated us free of charge earlier than check-in. The equipment of the room is completely fine, soundproofed rooms, absolute satisfaction with the 3-day stay.

If you properly read the instructions you’ll have a great experience. The location of the hotel is great for getting the tram into central Manchester. They have a car park which is £10 for 24 hours… you can request more pillows, towels, toilet rolls etc. from reception at no extra cost. You do have to put a deposit down for a kettle and be aware that all you get for that is the kettle so you’ll need to bring your own tea making facilities with you if you want a brew. The bed was comfortable and the room is space saving but there was room for everything you needed out for a couple of nights away.i.e. There was a shelf for your toiletries under the sink. There was room to hang your clothes and jackets and store your suitcase. You could use the stool for the desk as a laundry basket if you wished. The blind was built into the window so it could stay open and you still have privacy. Overall I thought the room was well thought out and considering we didn’t spend much time in there it was nice it didn’t cost the earth like other hotels.

We stayed here for 2 nights for the Manchester marathon. This hotel was the perfect location for the marathon event village and start/finish line however it is very "budget." The room we stayed in was very small, with a toilet, sink and shower all in the one room. Prison cell vibes. Only one set of plug sockets in the corner of the room, no plugs by the bed and no amenities like a kettle, hairdryer etc. We were up on the 7th floor and each night in the early hours of the morning there was so much noise from lorries, bins being emptied and the bed in the room was very hard and firm, therefore we never had a good night's sleep. Like I said a great location, walking distance to the marathon event village, start/finish, tram stops but very, very budget.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the ibis Budget Manchester Salford Quays, and it’s safe to say that the experience was both memorable and unique. While it doesn’t offer the luxuries of a 5-star hotel, it more than makes up for it with its character and thoughtful touches.
The rooms are a standout feature, particularly due to the rustic artwork that adorns the walls. The attention to detail in this artwork is impressive. Each room boasts its own unique design, with a variety of stains and marks on the walls that appear almost intentional—like abstract pieces of art. These aren’t just random imperfections; they seem to tell a story, reflecting the history and experiences of previous guests who have stayed there. It’s as if everyone who has passed through has left a small, permanent mark, contributing to the room’s evolving narrative. This artistic approach creates a connection between past and present, making you feel like you’re part of something bigger. It’s a truly thoughtful touch that adds a layer of depth to your stay.
Adding to the room’s unique charm is the luxurious 5-inch flat-screen TV, a true gem that brings an old-school vibe to the space. This isn’t your average sleek, modern screen; it has a nostalgic feel, complete with various plugs and wires straight out of the 90s. The TV’s small size and retro design give the room an authentic throwback feel, transporting you to a time when technology was simpler, and entertainment had a more hands-on, tactile quality. It’s a delightful blend of luxury and nostalgia that enhances the room’s character.
The rest of the room is designed with practicality in mind. The bed is comfortable, and the overall layout is simple yet functional. A particularly handy feature is the sink, conveniently located in the sleeping area. It’s a clever design choice that makes it easy to freshen up without needing to step into the bathroom.
The bathroom itself is modern and spacious, providing all the essentials for a comfortable stay. It’s clear that the hotel has put a lot of thought into making the space as efficient as possible.
One feature that’s hard to miss is the morning fire alarm. As someone who sleeps heavily, I often struggle with wake-up calls, but this alarm is something else entirely. It’s not just a gentle nudge—it’s a full-scale alert that ensures no one in the hotel will miss the start of their day. It’s incredibly effective and, for someone like me, a brilliant way to make sure I’m up on time.
Finally, I have to mention the ladder in the lift. While it might seem unusual, it’s a practical touch that reflects the hotel’s commitment to guest safety. If there’s ever a malfunction, it’s reassuring to know there’s a way out.
In summary, ibis Budget Manchester Salford Quays offers a stay that’s both practical and full of character. Response from Nia Ghizlane, General Manager at ibis budget Manchester Salford Quays
Responded 16 Aug 2024
Dear David, Thank you for sharing your experience with us, While we strive to offer a clean and comfortable environment, it appears that what you referred to as "rustic artwork" and "personalized marks" are unfortunately signs of wear and tear . Our goal is for every room to feel fresh and inviting, so we apologize if the condition of the walls detracted from your stay. Please know that we are investigating this issue and are taking steps to ensure it does not happen again in the future. Regarding the fire Alarm, We apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused during your stay. The alarm was triggered by another resident, and while we don’t condone this behavior, our top priority is ensuring the safety of all our guests. As a precaution, we must investigate any alarm activation to make sure everything is safe and secure. We understand that these situations can be disruptive, and while we strive to manage them effectively, some factors are unfortunately beyond our control. We appreciate your patience and are committed to doing everything we can to minimize such occurrences in the future. In summary, we take the concerns you’ve raised about the cleanliness of your room very seriously. We are currently investigating these issues with our head of housekeeping, and serious action will be taken against the individual responsible for supervising the room. Our goal is to ensure that this does not happen again in the future, and we are committed to maintaining the high standards our guests deserve. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Please note that as a budget hotel, we must adhere to specific brand standards, which unfortunately do not include offering 5-inch TVs. While we wish we could provide this feature, we are bound by these guidelines. We appreciate your understanding and are always looking for ways to enhance our guests' experience within these parameters. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We hope we will be given a chance to welcome you for a better experience in the future, I can't miss the opportunity to personally welcome and make sure you have a pleasant stay Best regards, Hotel Manager Nia Ghizlane

The exterior might look a bit shabby, but once inside this place is exceptionally bright and clean in all the communal areas, lifts etc. The young, cheery staff were all friendly and helpful and greeted us every time we passed reception.
Our two rooms on the 6th floor were excellent – spotlessly clean, all fittings in excellent condition, nice restful green decor, good bed, excellent powerful shower. A window that opens so you can get actual fresh air! (take note, Premier Inns…) I liked the lighting - three different kinds for brighter or softer options. The corridors were quiet and clean. The rooms are not large - but we were both fairly small, female, single occupants, and found them absolutely fine, especially considering the price. We felt safe both in the hotel and in the surrounding area.
It's in a great location for cricket and football grounds (25 min and 15 min walk respectively), also the Quays and Media City. Metro into town is just across the road.
All in all, an excellent budget choice. Based on this stay, I would rate it better than Travelodge or Premier Inn in terms of cleanliness and general upkeep – and I'd much rather budget hotels concentrated on that than on providing you with a kettle and a sachet of cruddy instant coffee in the room (oh and by the way, there's a Starbucks right opposite!)
I can't understand some of the negative reviews of this hotel – especially the ones about cleanliness. I'm a bit fanatical about this, and I couldn't fault it in any way.

Very pleasent stay from checking in to checking out. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, all the staff especially house keeping were polite, friendly and very professional.
At check in my requests for a top floor room was honoured. Upon entering my room it was very well presented and fairly clean. Facilities are basic but that is to be expected for a budget hotel.
Each day my room was cleaned to a high standard and house keeping staff would politely knock on my door to make sure they weren't disturbing me.
As for the hotel itself, it's very conveniently located near Exchange Quay metrolink stop which has a regular tram service to get you into the city centre in just under 20 mins.
Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a decent place to stay but is on a tight budget.
Finally just like to say a huge thank you to all the staff for making my stay a very pleasent one and I look forward to staying again in February 2024

Stayed in Manchester as always for the football and this was the cheapest hotel available and a good location in terms of close to Old Trafford. Location is the only good thing about this hotel, straight away as we walked in the staff wasn’t very helpful at front desk and they didn’t really look like they wanted to be there, same with the chap I checked out with. Soon as we got to the room, we were disappointed and new it was a bad stay, I had to put covers on my own bedding and when putting bedding on my mattress - which was rock hard and I’m feeling it this morning. rubbish was still underneath from the last people or who knows how many people before, WiFi didn’t work in the room and we managed to borrow free WiFi from the hotel next door, we thought maybe breakfast would be the saving grace but unfortunately it was not what we expected and was just 1 cheddar slice and 2 different meats with cereal and that was it except a bit of bread and a toaster that doesn’t toast - not worth paying extra for breakfast. I understand it’s a budget hotel and you get what you pay for, but the inflated price is unfair for what you get and regardless of availability, the price should reflect the service and it did not, even when I saw on different days the hotel is £35 a night but stay clear, the Marriott just next door or the Travelodge is worth a little bit extra for a comfortable nights stay. Avoid

The directions to ghe car park are wrong. It should say Elmira way. When we eventually found it, the car park is shared with the hotel next door, although there aren't any signs to say so. We had a good welcome and we're soon checked in. Our rooms were on the 6th floor. My friend's overlooking the car park, mine the 24 petrol station, so I couldn't open the window. The room was smallish, but big enough. There was an integrated shower cubicle and a separate loo and ghe basin was in ghe room. There werevasic toiletries and good towels. I'd stay here again

After booking a non-refundable room, which during every conversation on the phone I have accepted but asked what can be done to support, which has resulted in me sleeping in my rental car.
I had to fly for business reasons and had to arrived into Manchester just days before my wedding. After a 15 hour journey from Hong Kong to attend my wedding in the UK. However since the met office had issued an amber warning for heavy snow it meant we could no longer could check into the hotel due to the high risk of not being able to get through the snow to my wedding. Furthermore due to wedding arrangements being I as the groom did not want to risk a no show to my own wedding.
After trying to work with Ibis several days before the book I was promised lots with no delivery, first I was offered a different ibis closer to where we where which later found out they have never done before and not allowed to offer, and put down to the customer mid understanding even though I recorded the conversation and listened back. There was no misunderstanding.
Then I was offered a partial refund and to email management to finalise this. After this Nia had decided that customer service really isn’t important, had no compassion whatsoever and rejected everything the front of house customer service team members offered to support.
After waiting days for her response which arrived after the booking forcing myself to sleep in my car over night as not being able to reach the hotel and the possibility no refund insight without being able to look at other alternatives bookings.
Nia response is to blame the customer for all of this and blame that the customer is too stupid to under anything that was offered.
I felt that the front desk staff who had helped me had more compassion than the actual assistant manager and thus should be promoted instead of Nia, he was more understanding to the fact that the snow warnings were beyond human control was willingly suggesting options for partial refunds and possible credit transfers towards another hotel, and more so the way he congratulated me it was very heartwarming and professional.
Unacceptable.

Have used Ibis in Nottingham and Birmingham previously and always been pleased with the value for money for these room which, for a budget room at around £50 was clean with well maintained public spaces, decent shower and a/c - important on hottest day on record. One of the previous reviewers comments made me smile because I'm not sure what they were on about when they said "very small shower and toilet meaning you can't use either fully" as can assure you I had a great shower (I'm over 6ft tall) and "fully" used the toilet (which is full size :) ) without a problem....... But anyway, I'd like to shout out to the Services Manager who found my wife's purse which she'd left by a washbasin in the restaurant toilets. I ran back from the Metro station when we realised what she had done to find it safely stored in the office. I'm not suggesting that this is no different to what any responsible member of staff/customer would do in this or any similar establishment, but a sincere thanks to them anyway.

Skelton-in-Cleveland, United Kingdom544 contributions106 helpful votesHello. We are staying at the Ibis this Saturday as we are going to a concert at the O2 Apollo Manchester Arena. Please advise us as to the best and easiest transport link between the hotel and the venue. Many thanks. Vince
Hey!
The tram is really convenient, it’s only round the corner from the hotel and they run quite late too, if you hop on by the hotel and get the tram to Picadilly gardens and then you can catch the bus from there which drops you right off outside the Apollo Arena :) hope that helps!
