We stayed here over easter in room 10. The room shown on the web site was not the room we got. The bed was really low on the ground and so uncomfortable, the cushions had stains on them and smelt. The bathroom needed cleaning and the tap had no lever to turn it. The kettle didnt fit under the tap...

As someone who normally stays in more main stream hotels I wasn't sure what to expect from this guesthouse But If the Waverley is an example of what to expect , I am a complete convert , from the quirky welcoming greeting to all the thought out extras in the room, it was nothing short of fabulous Would highly recommend

I booked into this guest house as my husband and I were attending a function for the evening and needed someone clean to sleep. Well we couldn't stay there. The guesthouse has a 4 star rating it should be 1 star. We arrived in the middle of the night after a full day out and could not have a shower...

Having lived in Southend for most of my life, I've never had cause to stay in a seafront B&B but I moved away several years ago and was invited to stay at the Waverley when I was best man at a friend's wedding (along with family members as guests) so it was nice to re-visit the old town with a...

Stayed here last night. Had a sea view room, ensuite. This was a lovely room and friendly helpful staff. Would recommend to anyone to stay here. The breakfast was lush. Not a bad word to say, will stay again

Pros: Good location right on sea front. Bus stop close by. Shops and restaurants walking distance. Modernised facilities, nicely decorated. Price reasonable. Cons: Not clean. My room was very dusty and there were many dead flies and spiders stuck on the walls. There were cob webs on corners and light fixtures. Dry stains on the table tops. The outside veranda...

I stayed in this property for one night with my husband and would never stay again. On my way to the property reading the page I had printed from booking.com I realised we had booked a room with a shared bathroom. It was my fault that I had not realised this otherwise I would not have booked it. I checked...

Well, wow!!! I carefully choose hotels but the Waverley was far better than I expected, the rooms were perfect, we both had balcony rooms with beautiful views, the beds were amazing, I didn't want to get up!!!! We were allowed to check in early which made our time in Southend even better. The owners were very friendly, just wish we...
