I have cut and pasted the title from another review, because it sums it up perfectly. It is trying to be a swanky country house hotel, but falling short. It is not bad, just not as good as it is trying to be. Had lunch, food was alright, but a bit overfancy and not quite carrying it off. Lower ambition...

ashdown park hotel is one of the best hotels I have been to in a while, I would like to say a member of staff called Valentin gave out the best customer service I have had in a very long time, as he didn't just make it feel like a hotel but he made it feel like home and I...

Went for an overnight getaway for my birthday and were given an upgrade :) restaurant full but preferred the bar menu anyway and had fabulous cocktails before eating dinner in the bar with really helpful staff. Curiosities - had to ask 3 times before we got our coffee and toast at breakfast, decor a bit tired/ chintzy, really poor signposting/...

We booked as a last minute getaway after getting married as we had yet to arrange a proper honeymoon. The hotel was fantastic, we were upgraded at no extra cost. The staff could not have been friendlier. Made use of the grounds as it was a beautiful afternoon and the country club which had excellent facilities. Could not recommend highly...

I agree with other reviewers that this hotel is looking a bit tired in places, especially the Country Club and spa area. However, our bedroom was fabulous, very comfortable with lovely decor and furnishings and comfortable bed. Our meal in restaurant was excellent. Cocktails delicious but very expensive. Great size swimming pool, and lovely hot jacuzzi. The grounds are impressive...

This hotel is in a stunning setting, in a valley in the Ashdown Forest, East Sussex - acres of trees, rolling hills and a distant llama farm. Sparkling lakes, secret gardens and endless views. Building itself is fabulous - has been a house on this site for centuries but most of what you can see today is probably Victorian and...

We are a lesbian couple celebrating our anniversary at the hotel. Firstly we were treated upon arrival like a couple of aliens for being a same sex couple. Clearly this type of location doesnt usually attract homosexual couples and therefore we became a bit of a staring stock by the staff. The staff member by the name of Christina/ Christine...

We really enjoyed the friendly but professional atmosphere of this hotel. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious, a real treat. Our room was well appointed if a little smaller than I was expecting. Breakfast was again very nice with a good selection and attentive staff. The grounds were unfortunately a little muddy for a proper explore...

We stayed for the weekend (to use up some vouchers we'd been given). The hotel itself is lovely - set in gorgeous grounds and with interesting rooms, though the layout is a little odd - the bedrooms in the east wing seem to be a 5-10 minute walk from anywhere else down miles of corridors. Our room was great -...

It was my wife's 60th birthday and my sons 40th , so 8 of us defended on the Ashdown park hotel ... The ambiance was great just the right mixture of class and accessibility. Staff were busy and you could since they were slightly rushed as there were quite a few groups. The meals were of a good standard (we...
