Turned up on the off chance on a recent Bank Holiday Monday for lunch. Told that the food was a 20 minute wait, which transpired to be 40 minutes. Fobbed off twice. Ring told food was 'just coming' despite no check made with kitchen. Simple ploughmans plus fish and chips (not the freshest fish) was not great but not bad... More

This pub is the sort of place you could visit and settle in for the evening without realising! Staff are friendly and food is great. They keep the Harveys beautifully. Good for families, friends or couples.

Came here with my family on my birthday. The service was friendly, fun and attentive, they really couldn't do enough. We went on bank holiday Monday, and my partner and dad took advantage of the all you can eat mussels and ribs for £12.50 each - and it really was all they could eat, even ended up wrapping some ribs... We have a family connection with the area and visit every six months. We are always welcomed by the exceptionally friendly staff, that alone is hard to come by in other establishments. The place has a real authentic feel especially with the open fire roaring away. The food is certainly up to par, all five of us had a different... More

Have just returned after a lovely family lunch. I have known this pub for many years and always enjoy returning, but things did go down hill with the food which was a shame. But this has now been remedied with new management. The staff, food, drinks, atmosphere are all fantastic. I can highly recommend the all in one pie too... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening here. The staff were very friendly and efficient both when I booked the table and during our visit. The pub itself was very interesting with lots to look at inside and the seating was comfortable and roomy. The food was very good and we all enjoyed the evening very much. We were only there for... Headline says it all, really. Lovely location near Bewl water. Incredibly warm and accommodating staff. Harveys bitter on tap (superb). Free pork scratchings. Killer steak and kidney pie. And amusingly a 'dog menu' which are little mutt devoured.... Will be back.

My husband and I recently stayed at the Bull for the weekend as a friends wedding was nearby. We didn't eat lunch/dinner in the pub but the breakfast was great! Huge English brekkie with good coffee and juice in front of a roaring fire. Friendly staff too :) The accommodation however was really disappointing. After paying £70 for a double... More

WOW!!..Fabulous evening. We took my very elderly parents. I knew my mother would love the ambience of the ancient pub with blazing fires, the fact they served scrumptious food was just the added bonus. We all loved what we chose and it was served in such a friendly attentive manner by the young waitresses it just added to the enjoyment.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Bull Inn was built between 1385 and 1425 and is reputed to be one of the oldest dwelling places in the country, but only became a pub towards the end of the 19th century. Set in 4 acres of rolling Sussex countryside, and within easy walking distance of beautiful Bewl Water, the Bull is very popular with walkers, cyclists and fishermen. A magnificent ancient building in a secluded location, the Inn has a wealth of old beams, low ceilings and quarry tiled floors that give it a real air of the traditional English Country pub. ... more   less
