We went for the Bank Holiday weekend. Not surprisingly very busy and slightly noisy but a good atmosphere and nice people. We also paid to stay an extra night, which was more expensive than booking online. As places go it's got a children's play area, fires are allowed and has some facilities... but two toilets per sex for a campsite probably hosting over 500 people this is clearly not adequate. Furthermore, the washing up facilities were cold water only, so a waste of time and were all on the same run, so once the first tap opened, no one else got any water. Additionally, cars are allowed on and off site all the time. These should be left at the site entrance between 10 pm and 7am. There's no lightning and the fields are not level. Missile.

Room Tip:Probably avoid bank hols. Take ear plugs as roads are noisy but that's a camping norm.

Bank holiday. Site busy with lots of families Lack of ablutions for all those on site. Site was peaceful, but we did have noise from a rampant granny who appeared to bring males to her tent overnight.

We only wanted to camp somewhere for one night so gave them a ring and they were very accommodating. The lady we spoke to gave us information on nearby swimming lakes and was relaxed about what time we arrived as it wasn't the bank holiday (far busier for them so they have to be more strict). One of our kids was poorly during the night so had a rubbish night's sleep so they let us stay as long as it took, without rushing us off the site before 10am (normal rules). They were polite, friendly and left us to our own devices but we knew they were nearby if we needed anything. Toilets & showers were spotless and always had loo roll, washing up facilities were great and it's a beautiful field. Would definitely return as it's a really decent price too. Thank you so much Buckhurst, hope you all have a lovely summer!…

The site was clean, the facilities are okay, there is a small shop on site, toilets cleaned regularly. The staff are friendly and helpful, when I asked to stay an additional night, there was no issue with this. For the price I dont see why people complain, after all, your going camping you should be taking most things yourself. We had a noisy neighbour but they was no bother. I would of just liked to of seen more in the shop, and someone on site at all times.

Avoid unless you like selfish, inconsiderate, space invading and noisy overseas campers. Last night we were treated to a car being driven through the campsite with non English music being blared out after 30 mins he was told to turn it off. This morning the music was back on (loudly) at 8:30am. This morning our overseas neighbours started their car engine up at 6:45am (note it was parked a few feet from the entrance of out tent) and left it running for 45 mins. They only turned it off when I emerged. Very few flat pitches. limited but clean facilities. I will not be returning or recommending.

STAY AWAY - We recently stayed on this campsite and was shocked at how unmanaged it is. People were arriving after 11pm to set up tents. Noise etc until after 1am and then groups pitching up and camping in your area so breaking all regulations set by the campsite and no one giving a damn. There is a false security box at the entrance when you arrive. Only good thing to say was shower block clean. Not a safe campsite.

This was the worst caravan I have ever stayed in. There was so much mould (photos attached) and it was also dirty. The make shift beds were so uncomfortable it was like sleeping on hardboard. The caravan smelt musty too and the surfaces were also dirty with black grime. We felt this was a complete rip off for the price we paid and we had to leave after 1 night. The staff and management at Buckhurst don't care at all and made no effort to provide any alternative. The customer service was extremely poor and practically non existent. All they care about is getting the money.

Stayed as a last minute booked over the bank holiday weekend so was happy we could find somewhere! Only cost £108 for 5 of us to stay 2 nights. Very basic campsite but does the job and is close to Hastings. We stayed in field 2 which was a short walk to the toilet. Often found queues at the women’s toilet, but this is to be expected at most campsites. Was surprised to find you had to book slots for the showers which was a bit disappointing, however I can see why they do it. Ended up showering after 9.30 in the evening as no booking needed. The site was perfect for what we needed (a place to camp and to have campfires) however there were a couple of downfalls. Firstly, that there was no hot water for washing up. Secondly a big group did ruin both our evenings. No respect for anyone else and screaming and swearing into the night (2.00am). No one came to patrol or ask them to keep it down. Despite this, generally had a really good stay for the bank holiday, just a shame groups of adults ruin it!…
