Drove a way to have a meal here. The high street was parked both sides so had to use their carpark. Met a large 4x4 on way in who wouldn't reverse, so I had to back onto the main road. Told at the bar, that it was only carvery and a few specials. Nothing on the board so had to...

In the middle of one of the most beautiful high streets in east Sussex , famous pub , restaurant , hotel . Very well run establishment with a young landlord prepared to employ some charming and fiesty students from Australasia . Very varied menu , we had a single course Saturday lunch in the bar area : Highly recommend the...

Middle House is a charming pub in the beautiful village of Mayfield. Our first visit here, but it will not be our last. We were rather boring all going for Sunday Roast, the Lamb, Pork and Beef were quality meats, and the accompanying vegetable selection served seperately were also very nice. The roast potatoes were to die for certainly the...

Had a wonderful lunch with friends today in the garden. The food was wonderful, many the puds are to die for. Some renovation gong on to extend the garden room which will be wonderful when finished. It did not disturb us. Thoroughly recommend the wonderful food.

We stayed here for one night during a short break to Sussex. The room was good , the welcome warm, the parking easy and the garden large. We would have preferred the normal menu but Monday night is carvery and very popular with locals. This means no restaurant service but non meat meals were available to order in the bar.

Having recently stayed in London it was a breath of fresh air to stay in this friendly Inn while on a trip from Australia. The rooms were clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Furthermore, the rooms were well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. The carvery on a Monday was delicious and the entire environment was relaxing to stay in,...

We've just had a fantastic meal in the restaurant. The service was attentive, but not intrusive, the atmosphere was great and the food was delicious. There was plenty of variety and all tastes in the party were catered for. We were celebrating a 90th Birthday, so it had to be special.

Our first visit, old friends meeting half way for a long lunch, and we were very happy. Felt at ease when walking in, quite busy and most tables taken, but it was a good atmosphere , and we sat with our beers and wine, ordered off the vast menu, simple salads, Caesar and Italian. Both so large we couldn't finish,...

It was disappointing for my wife to receive verbal abuse from a very off hand member of staff/owner? - who called today and insisted that our room booking which was cancelled one month ago (recorded with BT phone records) hadn't translated onto their booking system. They insisted that we hadn't turned up yesterday and that they have charged my credit...

I have been to this place several times over the last thirty years and always enjoy it. The staff are pleasant (always an Australian or two about), there is a nice garden where one can sit or a series of linked rooms indoors which are all slightly different and equally pleasant. The food, when it comes (the only drawback is...
