I needed a room urgently in Battle for two nights which brought me here. It cost only £74 and was on the High Street. There ends the good points. There was no reception, just a telephone and an easily accessible box of keys plus cooking fat smells from the restaurant next door. This is not really a hotel, more a... More

You have to enter round the back of Simply Italian and when you enter its like a ghost town. There was no one on reception, it's not even a proper reception area. You have to ring an extension and it took me three attempts to eventually speak to someone who said they were in the laundry room and would be... More

Booked through a different website. Wished I'd checked the reviews on TripAdvisor first. What a dump. Firstly good points, well yes there were a couple. It's a good location, but there is other accommodation in Battle with equally good location, and the room was a nice size. We were lucky to find someone on the front desk, who was polite... More

This so called hotel is a joke. We have just spent 3 nights there while attending a wedding at the nearby Battle abbey, after travelling from the North of Scotland we just had to take what we found as most other places were booked up. We had a pokey end room ( room 10) The carpet was filthy, threadbare and... More

We stayed at the George for one night whilst visiting friends in the area. This is budget accommodation with budget prices so I won’t be critical of the quality of the décor. The large bedroom was very clean as was the bathroom so 10/10 there. Wardrobe space was a little on the small side but we managed. There is no... More

Did King Harold die from an arrow in the eye? No!More likely from fright after staying at the George inn! A fantastic old building that could be so much more, but instead is run down, tired, and dated. This hotel gives the town of battle a "Black eye"! Unless you want a bed and a bunk-up and don't fancy doing it... More

Only thing good about this place is that it's next to a lovely thai restaurant that we went to after feeling very very disappointed on arrival of this so called hotel .. shame really it could be so much more . Tears in the bed , bottle top as a door stop in the bathroom. Fire escape door was open... More

I wish I had read the reviews before staying as in the main they sum up perfectly my experience. On the positive side the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the water hot. But that was about it. There are no facilities - no bar, restaurant, lounge etc - indeed the reception desk in the poky entrance hall doesn't... More

This 'hotel' is nothing like what it looks like online or how it's described online. I really don't know where to start with describing why I am writing this review and usually my reviews are very positive but I really cannot find anything good to write about it, oh apart from the location (but that said, our room was at...
