Suffolk frankly I hate. 20 years of Lowestoft growing up means I have to be dragged kicking and screaming back ...but of course duty has to be done. Now until a year ago that meant a stay in a Lowestoft B&B...until we acquired our beloved whippet Jazzy and discovered most places aren't dog friendly...and even some that say they are...

We stayed here for our honeymoon night. Our room was beautiful (Southwold room) and we had a lovely stay. Owner was very chatty and helpful and they gave us a complimentary bottle of Preseco. Breakfast was yummy with lovely views. We were the only people staying there, which was quite funky and made our stay a little bit more special....

The good – Alan is an affable host, comfortable bed, delicious breakfasts and beautiful parkland setting. The bad – we stayed two nights and our bed was left unmade after the first night, no soap for handwashing, incredibly poor sound insulation between rooms and dirty floors. The ugly – a plastic cupboard that masquerades as a shower, the games room...

Thank you for your honest review. We are very sorry that you were unhappy with your stay at the Stables and will address the points you have raised below. Firstly, we should explain that the room you booked was an "overflow" room which we only let out for larger parties such as yours and, following your comments, we have now...

Stayed 5 nights in the Henham room. Katie and Alan were the perfect hosts. Our ensuite room was large, with sofa, TV and comfortable bed. Breakfast was substantial, with several menus to choose from. The Stables is located on an expansive estate. You can walk the grounds; be mindful of the sheep. The Stables is an ideal location to tour...

Stunning building with high ceilings and beams located in beautiful Suffolk Parkland which you can explore. Only a very short car trip or bike ride into Southwold and the beach. Very comfy bed and deep bath with loads of hot water. Amazing huge freshly cooked breakfasts. Alan and Katie out hosts couldn't have done more, exceptional place and we will...

We stayed in the Minsmere room for two nights. The room was a lovely massive room, perfect for our family of four. We all had a very comfortable night sleep. The owners were very welcoming and friendly and went out of their way to make sure we were catered for. Breakfast was fantastic and they catered for my gluten and...

We stayed for two nights in this well placed B and B in Suffolk. The Minsmere room is a large family room with 3 beds, great relaxation area and enormous bathroom. Double bed was very comfortable. Perhaps room needs more cosy touches?Breakfast is usual good wide choice. Perhaps needs more personal touches? Pleasant owners. No cycling on the estate is...

I was travelling to the area for a school reunion at my old boarding school, St Felix in Southwold, coming from the heat of a Houston summer I wanted to stay somewhere surrounded by green countryside. I selected The Stables because the whimsy of converted stables and the grounds were very appealing. The booking was easily done, great rates and...

We booked this place to attend a wedding with no idea of what we were going to. I am now trying to think of an excuse to go back. The place was fantastic as were the hosts. It is a small 6 room hotel, with an honesty bar, sat in some fantastic parkland. The breakfast was good, cooked especially for...

Staying in the Minsmere room was perfect for three generations and a guide dog! We booked this B&B so we were located close to seeing family in Lowestoft and Southwold. I want my son to see and feel he is staying somewhere different and not the big standard hotel. This is the perfect place for that. The room and bathroom...
