We booked an evening meal at short notice and were lucky to get a table as the pub is very popular. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful and attentive. There was a very nice 'family' atmosphere in the pub. There is a very varied menu and the food is all home cooked and was amazing. The home-made pie was...

Booked early for a special Mother's Day lunch for a 99 year old mum. Staff made sure table was near the open fire and easily accessible; the welcome was warm and friendly and at no time did we feel rushed. The menu was varied with delicious Sunday roasts included - service was excellent and the food beautifully cooked. The whole...

Discovered the Featherston Arms last year whilst driving around the Eden Valley. Kirkoswald is so pretty and quaint we decided to return. The food is the best pub food I have ever eaten. The pies are incredible and the pub itself is cosy.

First visit to the Fetherston and will certainly go back. The meal was top notch - couldn't fault anything. Started with the Whitebait followed by what can only be described as a whale on a plate with noodles! (Sea Bream). Everything cooked to perfection. Friendly staff :-)

We had been to the fetherston in March to see what I would be like at Christmas as we had booked glassonby old hall for Christmas week. We enjoyed it then and so looked forward to returning. When we did we found it even friendlier than before. The food is fantastic and the portions are large. Great real ale choice...

It also has a great cook who cooks the best pies and sticky chocolate pudding with ice cream and chocolate syrup the food is truly the most amazing thing I have ever tried and I hope that...

Recommended to us, we were not disappointed excellent meal, lovely decor and very friendly staff. The menu provides dishes for all tastes. The food is all freshly prepared to very high standards and presented beautifully. The portions sizes are quite large and your tummy will definitely feel full as you really don't want to leave any on your plate ....

We visited on Saturday 12/9/15 as we were staying at Staffield Hall and its just a couple of miles down the road so ideal walk to work up an appetite. We got there around 7ish and the place was already busy and they didnt have any tables left in the restaurant so we just ate at one of the tables...

Fantastic place to eat and drink, quality home cooked, locally produced & sourced ingredients. Very highly recommended for both food and fine selection of local ales. Pleasant and friendly staff. Booking recommended Thursday through to Sunday or you could end up being bitterly disappointed.
