Fantastic special little hotel full of quirky design. Much thought has gone into this hotel to make it feel different. Very warm and comfortable. Great place to spend the night before our arctic boat trip. Breakfast room very cozy and a good breakfast is served. Have stayed in Longyearbyen before but the hotel we stayed in wasn't a patch on... Stayed here before and after a Basecamp Explorer dog sledding trip. Hotel is quirky but really comfortable and very fitting for the surroundings. Staff are great and exceptionally helpful. They stored our luggage securely whilst we were away. Great breakfast. It's not cheap but then nothing in Norway is! Would definitely recommend, most of the other hotels in town are... More

Great hotel, extremely cozy, comfortable, and accommodating. Centrally located, with a great restaurant (Kroa) sharing the building. The room itself was very cozy and great to come back to at the end of a long, active day. Staff very friendly and helpful. Oh and a great breakfast!

Designed in wood, reminder hide and slate. A shoeless hotel with trappers lodge feel and warm cosy white linen beds, awesome views, great staff and a wonderful, not to be missed atmosphere which is unique. Breakfast is traditional, hotel is linked to Kroa bar and made our stay wonderful!

I have stayed at the Basecamp Hotel three times. Once before in the polar night and now twice under the midnight sun. I can't say enough nice things about the facility and the staff. If you are looking for a place that gives you the feel of a rustic trapper lodge this is the place. So it is not a... More

Basecamp Hotel was the perfect place to stay for our three day Svalbard family expedition adventure. We arrived with two other families with kids ranging from 4 - 14 (13 of us altogether) and everybody had a truly once in a lifetime experience. Aside from the memorable dog sledding (Mika is amazing and wonderfully engaging with kids) and snowmobiling outings... More

Both the reception area and the room had interior that you would associate with a trappers hut or other construction from driftwood and available materials in the wild. There's a small but nice lounge area where you can meet other guests and exchange experiences and ideas for activities, and the staff was super helpful and very friendly. The location is... More

One of three hotels we stayed in during our time in Svalbard (if you don't count a calming and a trapper's hut!). Basecamp Hotel is a splendid mix of modern facilities blended with bygone charm. Clever and tasteful use of wood and other organic materials to decorate the interior work well and do not clash with the more modern outer... More

Visiting the capital for only two nights, the four of us had our two evening meals here (we were that impressed that we had to return for two nights in a row). Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Basecamp Hotel is situated right at the heart of Longyearbyen, among restaurants, pubs, shops and bank. It is absolutely Longyearbyen's most amazing hotel; decorated in traditional trapper's style with driftwood, sealskins, pictures and objects that illustrate the past and current trappers' life in the Arctic. Despite its rusticity, Basecamp Hotel offers high quality accommodation with unique style! ... more   less
