I was delighted to hear today that the Derrynane hotel has cancelled all bookings fo '22 ! We booked Wavecrest in Feb 21 ,no contact from wavecrest by June Called down to find out what was happening and we were informed that our booking had been 'lost' we were given an alternative date in Aug. take it or leave it ! We took it just to have a small holiday for us. No choice of pitch for the tent, take it or leave it again ,an exposed sloping pitch and we had to deal with a storm on the second night of the three night stay that we were given ! The greed of these people knows no limits !
Me, my wife and 3 children (16, 12 & 9) had the best caravan holiday in Wavecrest. The scenery is amazing and the site itself is so well run. It’s kept absolutely spotless by the lovely staff throughout. There’s a shop on the site which supplies freshly baked bread and a great deli counter which also offers take away meals. The swimming areas on the site are really nice stoney beaches and good diving spots too, great for snorkelling. This year, there’s a Pompeii wood fired pizza set up at the entrance to the site. This is the best campsite we have ever stayed at.
Whoever had the imagination to conceive of this park in this location should be complimented. Its a fantastic use of a beautiful location. Lovely views from everywhere, friendly and helpful staff, great services, decent shop on site and cafe, lots or brilliant walks and drives locally. Compares with our favourite campsites in France.
Just back from a week in wavecrest. Fantastic site. Spotless ,scenic and so well laid out . Loads to do and see in the area. No shortage of beaches within 2 or 3 miles either direction. Lots of exploring and walking close by. Visited Sneem ,Waterville ,valentia Island and enjoyed a day in west cork. Hope to get back next year.
All the facilities that you might need for camping, hot showers, kettle and wash up area On the edge of the ocean so you can have a dip in the sea, nothing like that to recharge About a 2k walk to nearest pub food, don’t forget a torch for walking the road home as it is unlit and no footpath Local pub blind piper catherdaniel menu attached for reference
