Stayed in the holiday homes next to the hotel. The houses themselves were really nice, spacious and clean. The hotel however was shocking. Terrible smell in reception and could badly do with a renovation. Staff seemed only semi trained and had no interest. Outdoor pool covered in ants and filthy. Bar staff rude. Only plus is that the food is actually great which was a huge surprise. Great location, poor hotel.

Stayed for a number of nights, on the positive side hotel location is spectacular and has many excellent local attractions. However, the hotel needs investment, immediately on arrival you are met with the smell of must, the decor is tired and has a ‘70s feel to it. The bedroom was adequate, bed linen and towels clean and rooms were made up every day. Bathroom in need of redecorating, shower curtain was something you would find in a bed sit. The hotel reception and corridors similar to the rooms, need work and some interior redesign and decorating. Simple things stand out on arrival, as an example the 3 fish tanks in the lobby need to be either removed or cleaned and restocked, the selling at reception of crisps/soft drinks (install vending machines close to rooms). For the price, breakfast was very poor, while the staff are polite, do not have the relevant experience and lack management/training. I’m disappointed to be writing a poor review, I was aware of some poor reviews but felt location would win out, but the cost did not meet this standard. I have read elsewhere the hotel is under new management, my recent experience tells me they have a lot of work to do and requires spending on renovation.

I am only leaving 2 stars as the staff are amazing . Arrived on 03/08/2021 and the first thing I noticed was the smell of damp in the hotel room although it didn’t seem damp, I also think I was being bit during the night while tallying in bed , The room isn’t restocked on a regular basis three of us were staying in the room and they gave us two small bottles of water to make tea and coffee and that was to last three days. The food in the evening time is ok not a great selection but tasty having said this my daughter had chicken on the second last night and she has been vomiting since and still sick since we got home. The outdoor pool is grimy and looks dirty. The bar was badly stocked the was more of what they didn’t have rather than what they did have , the tables in the restaurant were old and stained from age a tablecloth wouldn’t have been a bad idea . Its a pity as this could be the jewel in Kerry’s crown as the location is superb this hotel needs a lot of work done to it, I wouldn’t stay there again

Please be aware, this is not a hotel. Having just stayed in a 4star hotel in Killarney, which was exactly the same price as this establishment, it was shockingly disappointing. Loud pop music blaring around the big open reception, restaurant and bar area....and then you go to your bedroom, if you can find it, no signs...and you open the window and more music blaring outside from the beer garden. Yes, we had a sea view but as we were just above the pool area, we had to keep the blinds closed for our own privacy. Very basic bed and bathroom, tired and grubby. And then there are the posters telling us to be kind to the staff, who bothered to turn up for work. No food or drink until 5pm. No facilities, no quiet spaces... How do they justify the price, 500 euros for two rooms (3 person's) for one night. Originally, had booked three nights but only stayed one. Had no choice, but to head home... Holiday spoiled.

Excellent Pizza, nice staff and panoramic views of Kenmare bay. Stopped by for outdoor dining on the deck and enjoyed pizza and beer overlooking the ocean on this beautiful part of the wild Atlantic way in south kerry Ireland. Great Pizza ..

The Derrynane is a wonderful location with amazing views. It does need some upgrading but I'm told there is new management on the way this Summer to make these changes. I have no doubt that given the location and the wonderful staff they have at their disposal that it will be a real jewel in Kerry's crown for Derrynane is simply a stunning location to visit. . There are so many wonderful places to visit at their doorstep

This is more like a hostel experience, and a really bad one at that. On arrival we wanted a sandwich and cup of tea to be told bar doesn't open till 4 and no food till 5pm , We went down to have dinner that evening which was another disappointment it is a chipper menu all takeaway type food and disgusting at that, Rooms are basic and the most uncomfortable bed ever.. no fridge in a family room. Most of staff are really nice and welcoming but unfortunately that's not enough and we paid 400 for 2 nights for this dump..

We researched this Hotel on line which had a well designed Website! When we arrived reality started to hit. Reception had drink bottles stored on shelves behind it; like a corner store shop; with the prices written with a marker underneath. We were greeted and told we had to pay there and then. We paid by card. We were then allocated our room; which smelled of damp. It was more like 1980s chalet. Bed linen on one side was stained. Turned on the tap in bathroom; yellow water flowed;, tested the Shower same thing. We wanted to leave there and then; but rather than be rude we said we would do one night. We were afraid to Shower because of the colour of the water. Went to dinner as other reviews were good and were expecting a good choice menu; all that was on offer was pizzas, burgers and fish. Basically a Chip shop menu. The only positive thing we can say; Staff were friendly and beds were comfortable and the View amazing. Breakfast was chaotic, no tables set we had to ask for everything. Staff running everywhere. The Receptionist came in to clear the tables. We were Celebrating a Birthday and it was ruined. Overall having stayed in lots of hotels in Ireland and all over the world; this has been the worst ever. Faulty Towers would be an upgrade.

Stayed here for 4 nights and really enjoyed it. Lovely location with great food. New owner Tim was an excellent host and always had a word for everyone. Hotel has a lovely homely feel to it due to the excellent staff working here. Ray at reception even upgraded my room to an ocean view. Well done to all and look forward to calling back in the near future.
