Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Image on booking site deceptive, not the house in question. Property was hazardous, particularly dirty, poorly equipped, and the surrounding lawns were maintained by sheep, with the consequence that children could not be allowed outside due to the amount of sheep droppings on all paths, green area, etc.. Avoid this property.

In July, we had our second holiday in two years in one of the houses in this complex. despite having four adults and five children we had lots of space. We stayed in the front section which was an easy walking distance from the village, so was very convenient. The caretaker was friendly and obliging and any requests we had were dealt with promptly. On the downside, the house could have done with a better clean beforehand as it was a little grubby & could do with a good lick of paint and maintenance. What was frustrating was that there was another family staying in the complex (apparently owning at least one of the holiday houses) who had a dog that was allowed to walk around without a lead and was fouling all over the place ... including outside our back doorstep. Caherdaniel itself is a lovely place for a holiday, although you need to expect all weathers and come prepared clothes wise for that! The people are very friendly. Places we frequented were the Pipers, which had excellent food and friendly staff; Freddies, which has it s own charm and also the coffee shop beside it, which we would also recommend.

We stayed in one of these houses over the bank holiday, we found them very spacious and equipped with everything that you need, as the weather was very cold we had the oil heating on ,there was sleeping for 8 two double bedrooms and 2 single bedrooms .short walk to village with 2 pubs and a shop, we will be back again.

Fantastic area for sight seeing - beaches are beautiful, scenery is stunning. Great location for touring around south kerry. House is nice and big - but could do with a clean and a lick of paint...

My husband, daughter and I stayed in the Gleantain Holiday Cottages from 27th Dec. to 3rd Jan. We booked with the Supervalu getaway breaks and so it was good value. Cottages: The cottages are actually very spacious detached houses,in a quiet location, with all the basic neccessities you would need, towels not supplied, you can rent them if you want. The cottages are split into two different locations though, which we didn't know about. The cottages in front are directly opposite the school and only a 5min walk from the village. The others (where we stayed!) however are a fairly dangerous, longer walk up a narrow road and boreen from the village, walking really not recommended especially in winter time. We complained to the supervisor and were told there was a path linking the two estates, but this proved to be a rough overgrown patch of ground which was only ok to walk by day. Apparently you must request a front cottage when booking. There is one taxi operating in the area, but times are limited. Village: Caherdaniel is a small village with one shop/pub, and one other pub/restaurant 'Blind Piper' which serves very nice food. You will have to drive to other restaurants/pubs in the area. One kilometer outside the village you will find the beach and amenity walk. Other than that there really is little else. However it is a great base to explore the Ring of Kerry. I would recommend the Cottages, but only the front ones if you like to take a drink in the evenings like we do.
