Hotel is far from the main market. If you would like to stay in a calm and more natural environment, this place is good. Rooms are not very good. Service is average. Food is excellent. Staff is friendly.

Its the worst nightmare for any traveller. the whole hotel is badly maintained, Poor lighting, tubes and bulbs not working, red, muddy water in the bathrooms, very slow and inefficient room service..name it and you have it !!! Real extravaganza. Loved the beauty around. Food was tasty. Service is good. The heritage itself is a plus point. Though there is no AC, you get to feel the real coolness of natural air. If you looking for a change from city life, this is it.

Cecil is very near from the starting point (from where cars are not allowed). Very near to Matheran railway station too. Huge beds and rooms (a bit damp during the rains) - but that's okay considering Matheran has torrential rains and moisture can not be avoided. Great balcony and huge common dining area. Good wholesome food (not fancy but nutritious).
