Was a lovely place to stay. Beautiful clean well set out unit with parents and kids bedrooms areas separated by 2 doors. Bath tub with a view is also special. Jane and the team were so great to deal with so helpful with any of our needs and island information

We booked a six night stay with Luxury Escapes. Unfortunately not what you would expect from a Luxury Escapes Deal. Very disappointing property. Not well maintained and hygiene standards were appalling. The sheets smelled mouldy, the floor was dirty, the ceiling fans had an inch of dust on the blades the dryer was full of lint, kitchen was greasy. I could go on but suffice to say, avoid this place at all costs.

We bought a package from Luxury Escapes for 6 nights and were disappointed in the standard of cleanliness, poor and shabby linen, (queen sized sheets on a king sized bed, ripped towels etc) pieces of crust in a zip lock bag as part of the breakfast and the general appearance of the unit. I'd say we got what we paid for, not the 'escape' that we imagined we'd be having. Won't be escaping with this lot any time soon. (House keeping was apologetic but said they were unable to help.)

We stayed here as family of 5 and had a lovely spacious apartment - 3105. There are 4 pools, 2 heated which was great for the kids. There are rock wallabies that came to visit which was gorgeous. Kitchen, lounge and 2 bathrooms all well appointed. I did feel for the price of approx $440/ night for a week the Owner/Grand Mercure could have provided more essentials e.g. cleaning, bathroom/toilet products. The apartment is getting a bit tired and if guests have these things they can take better care of the apartment, otherwise servicing should have been included. There were chipped glasses, stained mugs and dirty cushions on the outdoor furniture. Even the welcome folder looked unclean. I'm not normally fussy but this is not great guys.

Our stay on Magnetic Island was nice however we weren’t impressed at all with our accomodation at the Grand Mercure appartments. The room appeared unclean upon entering - it did not have that crisp fresh feeling I would expect from a hotel of this kind assuming it had been freshly cleaned. Walking bare foot around the floor in our apartment left our feet brown with the dirt and dust. There were small brown stains on the bed sheets and the glass in the shower was foggy with soap scum. Our front door did not lock properly and the split system aircon in our room wouldn’t turn on. Upon check out we weren’t asked about our stay or asked anything at all. The lady on reception didn’t wish us a nice day when we left or thank us for staying ect. We handed our keys in and left. In my opinion, it’s the experience you receive from the staff and the friendliness/ interest that makes you feel appreciated as a customer and more likely to return / recommend to others. If we were to return to the island again I would try Peppers across the road - hoping for a clean fresh room and friendly staff.

We will also be there in September but during the school holidays. We love staying at Grand Mecure. The staff there always treats us like family. I you have any problems just speak to one of the staff and I am sure that they will endeavour to help you out in every way possible.

The rooms are excellent and some are refurbished. They are self contained apartments not Hotel style so room services are only done on long stays. The rooms are equipped with starter packs and IGA supermarket is right next door if you needed any extras.

Hi, we found stinger net/swimming enclosures at every beach so very safe to swim. Also life guards patrolling as well. From the hotel it's only a 15 to 20 min walk to one of the swimming enclosures. Lovely stroll along the broad walk. Plenty of car hires places if you choose and the buses run from the ferry terminal all over the island which we found great. Give the lovely ladies at reception a call, they will answer any questions and hopefully ease your mind :)
