The negative reviews were obviously from when the house had a previous owner.. The newly decorated beautiful old stables is just perfect. It's cosy, clean, has a beautiful garden and is right next to the beach. Children love the local seals, adults loved the local oysters and walks and little pub around the corner with an open fire. Also amazing for kitesurfing. Can't recommend this place highly enough. X

Stayed at the Old Stables for a week and had a very relaxing time, weather was very kind to us. The house has a very long garden attached so our two dogs had a great time there, great to relax in and have lunch. The beach is a 5min walk which is really handy no need to take the car and again for the dogs lots of good walks from the door. The property itself was not a let down but a little unexpected- the furniture was very old and in need of updating, the flush on the toilet didn't work properly which was a real pain and there were cobwebs everywhere, that having been said the house was comfortable, the beds were clean and despite the heat we had a brilliant sleep. Judy is retiring this month and perhaps the property in some way reflected this we wish her happiness when she moves up the garden to Nevis. I understand that the new owners are going to continue with the business . We would return.

Having had a short break at the Stalls (self catering cottage in the grounds of the Old Stables) last Easter, we decided to have a fmily week this summer at Nevis - a 3 bedroomed bungalow on the same site. It was an excellent week - 4 generations in a roomy well furnished bungalow with two bathrooms within easy walking distance of Brancaster beach. OK Nevis isn't picturesque, but it is well furnished, clean and comfortable with a lovely secure and secluded back garden that looks out onto the pretty brick and flint buidings that make up the Old Stables ans the Stalls.

Second stay here with wonderful hostess and dearest Daisy! So comfortable, relaxing and clean. A wonderful stay and we will be back! Brancaster is a lovely village, very friendly and with a superb restuarant , The Ship, on the doorstep - staff great. Also try dog friendly Jolly Sailors up the road, their pizza is the best this side of Italy, and the staff great. The beach is breathtaking and remote during off peak times.

We enjoyed this place. Sure, we could have paid twice as much at the hotel down the road for a perfect room, but we enjoyed the character of this place. Judy's an interesting person, a bit eccentric. Her place is a little chaotic, but the rooms are clean (though a bit of a musty smell in the closet), and the breakfast is good. Her garden is pleasant, and Judy generously let us use her computer, and in general tried to please. Perhaps not for the person who demands well-ordered surroundings, but we really enjoyed our stay and our conversations with the thoughtful and kind proprietor.
