Ken and Carole welcomed us into the BnB at the start of our 4 night stay and were so friendly. Throughout our stay they were so lovely and kind, and also very knowledgeable of the area, providing tips for our trips out and walks. The accommodation itself is lovely, amazingly clean and nicely decorated with games, books and a tv for relaxing after a day exploring. The breakfast was probably my highlight - fresh fruit, bread and yoghurt and home cooked traditional English to follow! The accommodation is in a perfect location in the beautiful village of Youlgrave, with easy access to all three pubs (the Bulls Head hotel was a firm favourite!) and the village shops. There were plenty of circular walks on offer. I couldn’t fault our hosts, their place and the village and would love to go back again!

A super clean and well kitted out B&B in a great location. We stayed in separate rooms as mother and daughter and this worked perfectly for us just sharing a bathroom. Ken and Carol have worked really hard to make sure they are COVID compliant and the place was spotless, and felt very safe. We stayed 4 nights and had 4 fantastic breakfasts which could not have been better. Thank you very much for making us so welcome, and giving us good local advice too!

My brother and I stayed for two nights. Youlgreave is a great place to stay for a walking trip as there are many circular walks directly from the accommodation. The Old Bakery is an excellent choice for a short stay, the two of us shared a twin bedroom , there was another bedroom but the owners said that they do not let this out to other third parties as there is a shared bathroom. It would however suit a family of four or four good friends. The accommodation included a private lounge which was ideal for relaxing this was well equipped with tv, books, games and plenty of leaflets with suggestions for local walks. Probably the best part of the stay was the breakfast this was plentiful and included fruit, yoghurts, cereal , a great variety of cooked food and freshly baked bread. The owners Ken and Carol were very friendly , full of local knowledge and worked extremely hard to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Overall a great choice for a walking trip and highly recommended as a base from which to enjoy the Wonderful Peak District

As you point out, The Old Bakery offers an excellent base to explore the wonderful Peak District National Park. The B and B at The Old Bakery, offers two twin rooms with a shared bathroom and shower. The Guest Lounge offers a totally private space, for you to unwind enjoy Carol's homemade Brownies and a glass of wine amongst friends. The village has three pubs all serving home cooked food for your evening meal. In the morning The Old Bakery offers a return to the Old Bakery Shop where you can enjoy a full breakfast. We offer a range of cereals, fresh fruit, Yoghurts, fruit juice and fresh bread. This is followed by a full cooked breakfast on a 'al a carte' basis. We use only local high quality ingredients. The barn @ the old bakery is a truly wonderful place to stay. Very cosy, immaculately clean and will have everything you need for a great stay. Plenty of books/leaflets to look through to find walks and places to eat and if you’re still stuck you can ask Ken. The lounge has plenty of seating and kitchen is well equipped with modern appliances and plenty of cutlery and crockery. The bathroom is lovely with shower over bath and plenty of towels which smelt lovely and fresh plus shampoo/shower gel and hand wash. The bedroom is to the back of the cottage and again lovely fresh linen and everything matching in pale blue giving a lovely calming and relaxing feel. We enjoyed a nice cup of coffee on the small patio area at the top of the steps. In an excellent location for walking/cycling and exploring the peaks we would definitely recommend staying at the barn @the old bakery

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our self catering property, The Barn at The Old Bakery, it is very much appreciated. We have tried to create a comfortable and relaxing space in our Self Catering cottage, which offers accommodation for two adults with a very comfortable king sized bed. As you point out we have colour co-ordinated the property to be restful and calming. The Barn at The Old Bakery offers walking or cycling from the door, into the wonderful Peak District National Park. Within walking distance are Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall, whilst a short drive away are several National Trust properties. We hope you will return to continue your exploration of the Park Park.

Excellent reviews on here are well and truly deserved. The location is in the middle of the village and there is easy access to local attractions. As the name suggests, it is based in an Old Bakery, and you even get to have breakfast in the old shop. The shared living room and the two twin bedrooms were absolutely perfect. Towels and bedding were provided and everything was spotlessly clean. I would say that this is ideal as a base for anyone wanting to take advantage of the local walks. Ken and Carol were excellent and friendly hosts. The English breakfast was a real treat. (But the real treat was the homemade brownies!) Book it, you won't be disappointed.

The village offers 3 good pubs all serving home cooked food of great quality. There are also 3 shops providing all the provisions you require. You can walk from the door or catch the local, hourly, bus to Bakewell. Exploration of the wonderful Peak District National Park is, but a brief step away. The Old Bakery offers ‘a home from home’ for our guests, with their own private entrance and cosy Guest Lounge. Guests are free to come and go as they please. We aim to allow our guests to relax and enjoy their holiday or short break. We hope to see you again, sometime in the future.
