#4 of 8 B&Bs / Inns in Tideswell
New Management 2020. George Inn is a traditional 1730's coaching Inn set in the beautiful village of Tideswell, the middle of the Peak District. George inn is a lively pub (so does come with some noise) but this is to be expected for a popular village pub. We have a spacious function room available. We are in the heart of Tideswell next to the "Cathedral of the Peak". There are stunning walks on your doorstep. Nothing is very far away from The George making it a great base from which to explore all that The Peak and Derbyshire have to offer. We have 2 Superking/Triple rooms and 1 Kingsize & 1 Double room. Rooms all with ensuite shower rooms. Breakfast is included in the room rates. Breakfast booking sheets are given at checkin. The rooms are finished to a reasonable standard with TV/DVD, coffee and tea making facilities and free wifi. We look forward to helping you with your trip.

We came as part of the 'eat out to help out' scheme, and all I can say it was disappointing. Having heard that it was under new management, we thought we would give it ago and the food was ok but the drinks were flat. The menu is pricey, so i wouldn't come back once the scheme ends. There are other pubs in the village and surrounding areas which offer better food and drink.

Afternoon, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this review. We appreciate all feedback we receive. I am sorry to see you found our food to be pricey, I think we are quite reasonably priced considering everything on our menu is made in house from fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers. If there was a problem with your drink I do wish you had let a member of staff know so we could rectify this for you. We take on board your comments and hope to keep improving. Kind Regards, Rebecca.

We was a little cautious with regards to one of the reviews with regards to the landlord being loud and "strutting like a peacock", we experienced the complete opposite . Food was red hot, good quality and good portions, reasonably priced , we had a little wait, but they was very busy at the time, but the food made up for the wait. Cant wait to try one of their Sunday roasts

Lovely meal from this place and so glad it’s finally open again after months of closure. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. I had the beef burger and my other half had the gammon, both were excellent meals. Definitely visit here during August if you can while the eat out to help out is available. Will definitely be returning if passing.

I visited with my daughter to make use of the 50% off food/drink. I had booked a table & this was reserved for us. The management were very welcoming, the interior is in good condition & it was lovely sitting outside on the benches in the sun. All food is homemade & I can fully recommend the fish pie it was delicious !! Compliments to the chef 😋👍.

We decide to visit whilst staying in the village, lovely village, lovely locals. First impression was slightly cautious however when in we found decent refreshed decor. Nice selection of beers very pleasant and helpful member of staff which I was led to believe may have been the owner's daughter. We had a light lunch which was standard ”pub grub” over priced for the portion size and standard. The landlord, unfortunately ruined the whole experience he was way over the top and removed any cosy pub feel. We only wanted a low key event not a full on interrogation. Very loud and brash like a strutting peacock around the place. Calm down!! Needs adjustment the competition is premier league in the village. We really enjoyed other pubs in the village.

Good morning, I am very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the entirety of your visit with us. We have found our food menu to have been very popular since opening and I am surprised to read your comments. You refer to our food as "standard pub grub", and seeing as we are a pub I would say this makes sense. Everything on our menu is homemade and only fresh ingredients are used, which I think has been reflected in the other reviews left on our page and feedback through our FB page. I think I may be the helpful member of staff you are referring to, I am in fact the landlady and I do wish you had brought up your concerns with me during your visit as I would have liked the opportunity to make sure you left our establishment having had enjoyed your experience. I am sorry to see your experience was ruined by the landlord, Personalities can clash sometimes but it think to base a review on something like this may be a little unfair. The person you are referring to puts in an awful lot of hard work and long hours to make sure customers like yourself have an enjoyable atmosphere to be in and we are shocked to read your comments. Never the less we will take on board everything you have said and hope to keep on improving, after all we have only been open 19 days. Thank you for your review. Kind Regards, Rebecca.
