We chose The George Inn because we wanted a homely, countryside place to stay and were blown away with how much we enjoyed our stay. The room surpassed our expectations, it was a lot bigger than we expected and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. We were especially surprised with the room amenities and how much variety there was, we’ve never been to a hotel that has hot chocolate in the room! The breakfast was delicious and had a lot of variety, we were also able to enjoy the Steak and Ale pie which was incredible and the portions were very generous. But the winning factor is the staff, they really went out of their way to ensure every part of our stay was fantastic. Rory, Rebecca and the young guy that was working in the afternoon were so friendly and hospitable, they…
Had a few nights stay at The George on a bed and breakfast with some friends and had a great stay. Rooms were very clean and tidy, beds extremely comfortable and tea/coffee. Breakfasts were really good. A full plate of ‘full English’ with tea, coffee and juice. Staff are very attentive and always seem to be working, brilliant commitment! The George is ideally located for a base to tour around the Peak District. Thanks again for a great stay!
3 of us visited the George inn for a meal to celebrate a birthday. Living in the village had heard good reports about the food and new management . Its most definitely been stepped up ..the service was spot on smiling friendly staff made us feel very welcome. The menu is also superb something for everyone at very reasonable prices. I had chicken burger with cheese and bacon homemade chips and it was lovely..other meals were fish and chips and a chicken pitta bread. Well done to the George in bringing back another fine option for dining in this wonderful village..long may it continue because we will certainly be back
We have just had a meal at the George and the food was amazing, big portions and big on taste, staff were all lovely and helpful, definitely recommend. Lots of space to sit outside in the nice weather.
Excellent stay and very helpful friendly staff. Good value. Rooms appear to have been updated very recently. Good quality towels toiletries etc. Good car park. Excellent steak and ale pie, way the meatiest I’ve ever had. One word of caution allow extra time to get there. The roads are very slow. Worth the effort though. Lovely inn and beautiful unspoilt village.
