We have just got back from a wonderful two night stay at the Dog and Partridge Inn. So much so that i think the last few reviews shoud deffinatly be ignored!!! I found the Dog and Partridge to be the most welcoming child friendly dog friendly hotel that we have stayed in whilst on holiday. The children were treated with such respect. On arrival we were supprised to find such a wonderful arm welcome . We were promplty checkedf in advised of meal times and escorted to our room through the lovely gift shop and past the lovely well kept gardens and play area for the kids. The rooms are away from the inn and are individual chalets where you can poark your car next to under cover. (Great as it started to rain shortly after we arrived and we needed to unpack the car) The rooms are a

My partner & I were desperate for a few nights escapism and booked a last minute break - two nights (Fri & Sat) at the Dog & Partridge. Unfortunately I read the reviews of this hotel after I had booked, we were tempted to cancel, but as I had paid a £40.00 deposit on booking we decided to risk it anyway. On arrival at the hotel (motel is more accurate) the outside of the inn seemed nice & exactly like the country retreat it is described as on the website. I entered the reception with some trepidation as I was already expecting the worst. The small reception area was cosy but verging on cluttered, with a large lady seated on the sofa who appeared to be on the telephone. I explained that we had come to check in & she asked me to wait at the cluttered reception desk. She then

We hoped for a pleasant stay for two nights in a family room, however the hotels web site mis lead us completely. The inn looks pleasant enough from the road, but the accommodation is nothing more than a trailer park at the back consisting of prefab bulidings. We were housed in a brick building that had no lights in the entrance corridor. Our room consisted of a small double pull down bed with a duvet on top which had written in indelible pen "Dog & Partridge" to prevent us from stealing it, I think (no fear of that) there was also a filthy kitchenette in the corner of the room. The childrens "room" was just bunk beds placed in the hall way, one of which reiked of vomit. The bed sheets were dirty on both the childrens beds. The whole place needed decorating as it was very run

Originally booked the Charles Cotton Hotel but they messed up the booking and recommended their 'sister' hotel the D&P. I was asked to pay in full in advance, and soon learned why. Externally a cosy looking pub, but there are clearly problems lurking here. Everything is looking a little run-down, from the loose paving stones on the outside steps, to the uninhabited rabbit hutches. The room we had, supposed to be a suite, was a foldaway double bed plus a bunk bed in the corridor for the children. To use the loo at night meant waking them up with the incredible noise from the extractor fan which was reminiscent of the Queen Mary leaving port. The shower was a mean trickle. The decoration was gloomy and stuck in the 70's. And so expensive! The restaurant: don't even think about it.

We stayed for one night over the Bank Holiday weekend. The room was overpriced £145 for double room with kitchen facilities, small hall with bunk beds and separate bathroom. The furnishings were dated and worn, very dreary. We expected something warm cosy and quite smart - we were very wrong! The absolute worst was the food - pricing was equal to that of a top notch restaurant - the food would have been unaceptable in a greasy spoon cafe, truly in edible. Even the full English breakfast was full of grease. We can only assume the place survives on passing traffic rather than regular trade.
