The hotel public areas are clean and modern, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and very comfortable. The bathroom was excellent with plenty of hot water and huge towels. The full English breakfast was excellent but I would have liked the option of a continental one as well. In spite of what it says on some sites, there is a large free car park, but no gym and swimming pool. It is located on the edge of Kegworth which has a number of shops, takeaways and pubs, and there are various attractions to visit in the area.

We arrived on a Friday afternoon, The previous evening we had a phone call advising us to book dinner for the Friday evening. From this we assumed that the hotel must be mega busy. When we arrived, around 3pm, the large carpark had 2 other cars in it and that was the way it stayed until we left on the Saturday - the place was deserted. The room we were given was on the ground floor and most of the adjoining rooms had their doors wide open and lights on - ready for cleaning no doubt nut not a welcoming sight Our room was large but seemed much smaller due to the fact that in addition to our double bed, 2 single beds had been crammed in giving it the look and feel of a dormitory On going down to dinner we discovered that the restaurant was closed and we'd have to eat in the bar - fortunately not a problem as there was no one else around. I decided to have a pre-prandial pint of beer only to be told that, despite having 8 beer taps, none were working The food was OK - pub grub - and the service was friendly and efficient but the overall impression was of a hotel on its last legs. This impression was further emphasised when we went down for breakfast and had the devil of a job finding anyone around to take our order. Eventually we did find someone and the breakfasts were OK I should add that all of the staff we encountered were charming and went to great pains to tell us that they had been incredibly busy during the previous week - so I'm not suggesting the hotel is about to go under but their management needs to get a firm grip on the business

I rated highly due to the fantastic and warm welcome from the staff. The lady on reception then served us at the bar and food. She was so lovely and made us feel so welcome. Even though the restaurant was quiet we were never rushed. The gentleman at breakfast was also so polite and these people would make me return. I was visiting my daughter at the local university. The hotel is near the campus and also the motorways. It has a large car park and perfect for a night stop. The food was good with loads of gluten free options. Portions were plentiful . 5 of us had dinner and everyone enjoyed the food. The rooms were clean but basic, as I expected really as the price was very reasonable. Drinks and food very well priced. Only criticism. As a solo traveller there needs to be a deadlock or safety chain on the inside of the bedroom door. Both had been removed.

The hotel has recently been refurbished giving it a clean modern look reception, bar and dining area. The bedroom was clean and spacious with a very comfortable and large bed. Meals were tasty. It is situated close to major roads, rail link, airport and bus routes. Really could not fault anything.
