We booked this pretty last minute; and glad we did. Outside, its a lovely wing (lodge?)of a period house, Previously owned by Lady Whitworth, and bequeathed to teh community, and now run as a charity. I could be wrong, but I wondered if the wing was sold off, to make money for the charity, and this is now run as...

Lovely food, lovely rooms, lovely view and neighbourhood couldn't fault that. Only downside is the reception to check in is in the public busy bar. Check out... well we didn't have breakfast but needed to check out. Breakfast started at 830 we went down at 827 and it was pitch black nothing or no one to be seen!! So we...

Food very average and uninspired. Waiting staff polite and helpful, but had to request extra food as portions were modest. Vegetables lacked any real taste and turkey slices bland. Large catering and it lived down to what we unfortunately come to expect. Acceptable, but not reccomendable.

Booked a last minute stay and booked the superior room. Good size room and big comfy bed and all very clean and tidy. We ate in the bar in the evening good choice of food and beer, all at very reasonable prices. After a good nights sleep, no noise from main road, and our room was on the front, this...

A one night stay with breakfast included and a choice of breakfasts too. Good sized room with ensuite. We also had dinner in the restaurant great quality food and reasonably priced. Great comfy bed. Room faced the busy A6 but goes very quiet on a night.

My colleague and I ate dinner here whilst on a business trip. We had spotted it when driving down towards Matlock to our hotel and decided to drive back and give it a go. The menu choice was reasonable and the prices were reasonable too. When the food arrived it was tasty, hot, and nicely presented. The atmosphere was pleasant...

A hidden gem, we saw this place from the road and decided to stop for Sunday lunch which was £10 for 2 courses £12 for 3. We thought that looked good value. The place was busy but the service was efficient and quick. We didn't end up having Sunday lunch but it did look good. We had steak n ribs...

Recently stayed here for a few nights for our first wedding anniversary. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The room was a little smaller than what we had both been expecting, but was nice and cozy. Breakfast was included in with the room. Plenty of choice and staff accommodate for any food preferences. Good sized portions and good quality. Will...

so......where to start.........it claims (according to their website 'set in the heart of the Peak District' - it is not in the Peak District National Park and certainly not as 'in the heart of'........check the postcode......it is on the edge of the Peak District.........nice try...) staff try their best but the fact they don't serve anything past 'bar snacks' outside...
