Fabulous warm welcome, we were served promptly by a very hard working gentleman with great knowledge of the local beers. We both had the homemade burger and chips, and they were truly delicious with a super tomato chutney. Would definitely go back, traditional pub with real fire, excellent service and great food. Thank you.

We booked a table for 19:30 and arrived at 18:45 for a drink. Due to COVID restrictions we could not stay at the bar, luckily the staff were very accommodating and made sure that our table was ready for us early, and also made us feel very relaxed. We did not feel rushed to order food and the bar staff were very good at recommending Ales to try. We had a 3 course meal and also drank plenty of the Ale on offer, the food was delicious 😍 All of the staff we spoke to were very lovely and we would definitely like to eat and drink here again. Definitely recommend to anyone staying in Castleton.

My wife and I just returned home from a fantastic 2 night stay. Every staff member we spoke to or came into contact with was very polite and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. We had the evening meal at the hotel on both nights, we felt very pleased with the way the tables were laid out and the precautions taken in view of the COVID-19 outbreak. The hotel is within walking distance to Peak Cavern & Speedwell Cavern. I highly recommend staying here.

Well now, this is an old building so you can expect it to be a bit quirky, and it definitely has character. The staff were friendly and the food was fairly good too. We stayed here for a few nights, unfortunately my room was directly above the bar, so no sleep until after the bar was closed, but that’s to be expected I guess... The COVID precautions were however somewhat ‘relaxed’ compared to some other establishments I’ve been in recently. Yes, you have to stand at the door upon entry and sanitise your hands, and there were pump packs of gel on all the tables. And oh yes they don’t clean your room if staying more than one night.... But all the tables in the bare were in use, no visible attempt to spread them out that I could see, it was bar service as normal, so standing at the bar to order was frequent, no addition of screens to protect the staff or customers, and in the three days I was there I saw one staff member wearing a mask... And sadly wedging open a fire door appeared to be the norm during the day. I made sure the wedge was out before retiring...
