Spent one night here. Bathroom in need of repair. Mould in between tiles, ceiling paper loose. Otherwise a comfortable room. Fine till guests arrived in the room above....could hear every single step they made, floor above constantly squeaking. All ok when they were asleep and not moving at all. Noise woke us up as they used toilet in the night.... More

Stayed here on an overnight stay. On arrival was met by very pleasant member of staff called 'Mac' (one of two -- both were very pleasant and helpful). In fact all the staff we came across were really nice people. We'd booked a ground floor room, which they had no notice of. I put this down to a central booking system... More

Before I start I would say that any criticisms within this review are not directed at the staff; in the main they were helpful and courteous. The young chap (whose name deserts me) who served in the bar and restaurant was excellent. We stayed here recently for a few nights whilst visiting the Peak District. The Inn is ideally situated... Have visited this lovely little pub several times and on occasions had a great meal but the menu which used to serve hearty pub meals seems to be trying to hard, the pub is in a stunning location and the staff are always friendly, the pub is always busy and seems to overstretch itself at times.. when we visited the... Went here after our hike looking for a decent pint and something to eat. The selection of ales and ciders on offer was very good, however the food wasn't. I decided to go for the chicken pie, which had a deceivingly large amount of pastry, yet sadly not much filling.

What a lovely meal. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome with treats and drinks for him around the pub. The food tasted great and my wife had the curry that looked Mmmmmmm. Would definitely recommend this pub and would return when I'm next visiting Castleton.

We stayed here for a long weekend and would highly recommend it. The hotel is in a great location, Castleton is a lovely village with some great restaurants, shops and walks. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere of the hotel was friendly and relaxed. The rooms were spacious and clean but the pillow and matrass quite soft. The restaurant... More

My husband (The Doc) and I stayed for two nights. We were in the little building next to the pub, which we quite liked. The room and en suite were clean and it had lots of space. The pub itself was cozy and the staff were really lovely and the location was perfect. It was only very small things which... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
If you're looking for a hotel in the Peak District, Innkeeper's Lodge in Castleton occupies a magical spot in a beautiful corner of Derbyshire.Nestled amongst the hills of Hope Valley, and surrounded by stark limestone crags, wild moors, sheer rock edges and intriguing caves, it's clear to see why Castleton is known as the honey-pot of the Peak District.A coaching inn since the 1800s, The Castle is tucked underneath haunted Peveril Castle, from which it takes its name. Country pubs don't come much cosier. Here you can refuel with heart-warming pub-food, well-kept cask ales and well-chosen wines, before retiring to one of the comfy, characterful rooms. The Castle is close to four show caverns, where you can explore vaulted chambers, bottomless pits, gemstone mines and underground canals via boat. There's plenty more to see and do nearby, with some of the country's best footpaths winding through the stunning scenery of the Peak District National Park. ... more   less
