Booked into room 6 for 1 night. Booking made by telephone on recommendation. On booking, advised price and assumed this was for B&B. However, on arrival we were told included breakfast was Continental Breakfast only and that we could upgrade to English Breakfast in the morning. "Continental" breakfast was a very limited choice of cereal, Juices, fruit (very limited choice) and croissant and preserves. Toast was also offered. Tea and coffee also offered. Tea serviced in a pot, coffee in a cup. Only one cup offered and was difficult to get a refill. It is not clear on website that breakfast is only Continental, nor that extra is to be paid for english breakfast. That said, the room was very clean and well furnished. Evening meal was excellent both in choice and price.

We were staying Thursday eve to join family in the area for a 30th Birthday, and the day/ eve we stopped was my partners actual birthday- so we hoped it would be special. Granted this was also the Lions first week back to 'normal' after lockdown, they were fantastic and I couldn't recommend my stay here enough! The parking is free, and you get a code on leaving. QR code on arrival for track and trace and hand san is all in place. We were made to feel very welcome, and we couldn't fault our wonderful room 10! We had a pre drink before the evening, and we were told just to let them know so they can manage numbers, however got us seated as it was quite quite fine. Their outdoor/ inside area is beautiful to drink in, and has heaters too. Drinks were served wonderfully, and we felt very much at home. We had a great nights sleep and couldn't fault any part of the room and it's facilities. Continental breakfast was included in my stay, however we wanted to upgrade to a full english- and we did arrive for breakfast just on the cut off in the morning (so sorry) however she was very patient (no other guests were dining) and allowed us to have our full english from the kitchen- it was one of the best breakfasts I've had from a hotel- and I travel for work a lot. We were also asked if we'd like any extra toast or coffee- thank you for this as we realise we were down to breakfast early, you made us feel still very valued. Check out was simple, and no problems for the extra drinks we'd had charged to our room. We can't fault the hotel and hope they flourish as lockdown now continues to lift :)

Would not return My partner's Medium Rib Eye Steak arrived well done and his chips overcooked almost black - returned to kitchen. Replacement arrived after I had finished my langoustine Linguine Man on reception pleasant as was waitress who took drinks order Waitress who served meal had an underlying unpleasant attitude Male waiter did his job reasonably well I am still waiting to see the wine list Kitchen, when you know you have plated up a poor standard meal, just tell the waiting staff to deal with it and offerclients a free drink and cook it again Reviews I read before booking did not meet our expectation

I had a 3 night stay in this lovely Hotel for a business trip and I have stopped all over the UK and This hotel and staff are 5 stars.... For anyone wanting to stop in Belper or surrounding towns you have to book here, from the minute I arrived they looked after me along with high Covid safety measures. The room was spacious, very comfy king size bed, food through tout the day in the restaurant or room services was amazing. I will definitely be returning to this hotel with my partner to experience the Derwent Valley. Thanks to the manger and his team. See you Jay.
